Default My M9A1 is finally out of jail!

Long story short my LGS ****ed up the original DROS so I had to wait 20 days to break her out. She's finally home and I'm enjoying fingering her

First impressions...

- I love this gun
- Digging the long and heavy DA trigger pull for when it's under my pillow or carried around the house
- SA trigger pull is nice and short
- Overall the trigger feels very smooth
- Looks like the factory gave it a bath in oil before shipping, will definitely need to clean before hitting the range

Only negative I have so far is that decocking also engages the safety. I need to train my brain to decock and put the safety lever back in the red

I think the sights are fixed but I could be mistaken. The front one is definitely part of the slide. The rears it's not so clear about (I'm sure someone else with more knowledge will chime in). That said the M9A1 comes with three dot sights which I prefer.

Edit: If both are fixed that also means you should be able to replace the slide for three dots. A PITA compared to my Glock but at least it's an option

I'm very pleased with mine so far but the range will be the true test. Bought it to replace my Glock 17 as a home defense gun since I never felt comfortable with the Glock under my pillow with a round in the chamber. Not knocking Glocks because I love mine and will own more. Just personal preference that the heavy DA trigger pull of the M9A1 makes me feel more comfortable. Don't have a need for the safety and don't plan to use it.

Congrats. I love love mine. It's my favorite out of all my guns. You should put in the 18lbs wolff 1911 spring. Makes the trigger break really nice and light.

You are going to have a hard time looking for a holster. I got a custom Kydex made but the finish on the gun scratches easily.

I ended up just slapping a crimson trace grip and a insight light and I made it my nightstand weapon.

Very cool. I just noticed for the first time the changes to the backstrap on this one, too. How is the texture?

Ya the M9A1 added checkering to the front and back of the grip. Texture is nice and it feels good in my hand. Only thing I might do is look for some thinner grip panels.

Congratulation. Very nice. Also great to hear the dros delay was simple human error and not another doj story.

It was frustrating when it happened but I know the dealer has been slammed since all the panic and mistakes happen. Was more frustrated with CA for making me have to go through the process in the first place. Plus the shop ended up giving me a discount on the TLR-1s and extra magazines I bought so that was cool.

congrats. i have one too and its awesome. i think the da and sa action was a bit harsh for me so i changed it for a D spring which lighten the trigger pull a lot. mines look like this minus the light. i got the comp because it looks super cool and helps with recoil although i didnt care much for since it dont have much recoil to begin with

Congrats! Mine comes out of jail on the 12th, but now I'm slightly nervous that my LGS will f up my DROS too. Let's hope not. Waiting on my safe and my Nebo ProTec Elite to come (I hope I don't regret not getting a TLR-1, but I just decided to put that saved money into other things such as ammo).

Can't swap it for any aftermarket sights, like night sights or fiber optics.

Though there are gunsmiths that will remachine slides, while brigadier slides already come with a removable front sight.

there's meprolight where it goes right on top of the original then just simply drill holes on the side then you are good to go.

I highly recommend the HEC Compensator (SGS for less) http://www.hec-computers.com/index.html. Makes it very easy to double-tap. Waay less recoil and muzzle rise. And excellent customer service to boot.

Thanks for the clarification. I was very hard to tell just from looking at it.

Was able to get to the range today so I brought both the M9A1 and my Glock 17. Both functioned flawlessly and I consistently missed the center with both I need to practice more

Congrats. Got mine a few weeks ago. My first Beretta. I'm in love. Feels and shoots great.

I hated the DA pull so I put the D spring in it. MUCH better. Much smoother and lighter but still heavy enough for carry. Highly recommend it.

I have the same light as you too. 300 lumens of fury.
