You could just trade the ammo for a caliber that you have.

Glock 21 or 30. You have no alternative. So go buy it now.

The FNX feels really cheap in the hand. I haven't shot it, and some people on the internets claim the FNP/X series have voodoo in them to make them recoil less. I like the design and generally like having a hammer, but the M&P series just feel more solid and have shot really well for me.

Hilton Yam from 10-8 Performance prefers the M&P45 because a lot of what you learn on a 1911 carries over to the M&P directly (especially if you get a model with an external safety.)

Cannot go wrong with a Glock 21.

The best thing to do since you sold your only .45acp 1911 is to buy another .45acp 1911.

The second option, a 1911. Third option, 1911. Fourth option.... I think you know where I'm headed with this.

M&P was my pick for a no-nonsense workhorse 45. I love the controls of a 1911 but wanted something that is tougher, gets better mileage on parts and I would not mind scratching up. The controls on the M&P feel just like a 1911.

M&p 45 and a bobtail smith and wesson e series? Is that what the little bird on the shoulder is saying? Either of the guns could pull concealed duty easier than the fnx which I hear is super fat.

I dont like how fat the g21 is. With the new 30s coming out glock should slim their 21 slide too. It is fatter than a glock 20 right? I have a g20 sf.

river city gun exchange has m&p45's on sale this week for $589, or you could sell the ammo to me.

If you are not a .45 guy, get this one, if you could find one here in California
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2012...-carry-pistol/

You can safely store 4 rounds of your ammo in it and sell the rest of the ammo to me

^^^ This. After a 1911 any other trigger is gonna feel like azz. Unless you go with a S&W wheelgun, of course...

If you want something unconventional I have a Mac10 clone by MPA in .45 and its a blast to shoot!

I will say the Sig P220 DAO is an amazing gun to shoot as well.

You need an M&P45. The ergonomics are very similar to a 1911 and it's an absolute workhorse.

Great choice for hd: large steel frame will soak up felt recoil, low bore axis due to inverted rails, best ergonomics, double stack 10rd capacity, tack driver accuracy, and DA/SA trigger no extra safety's to worry about just pull the trigger. It would be my number one but it doesn't have a rail integrated into the frame but you could just hold a high power flashlight in your off hand.

I would go with an M&P .45 based on my experience with my own M&P9 and my Brother's FNX .40.

That being said, my Brother owns an FNX .40. It is a solid gun, a bit blocky IMO though. It has a great SA trigger, the best SA trigger I have squeezed on a polymer handgun. That is probably its best feature... sadly. The DA trigger is not the best by far, IMO. It is quite heavy, I am not picky about triggers but most people are so that is something to think about. The gun is very accurate though, our Father a 65yr old mind you, could hit a bowling pin from about 35-40 yards away from a rest with it.

I know it is not the same as the .45 FNX but his .40 FNX needed a break in period. About 100/150 rounds before it would reliably fire with all kinds of ammo (steel cased, brass, poor, decent, etc..) It also does not like being ran dry. Which is fine for a 1911/metal handgun, but not a polymer handgun, IMO.

The Ergonomics are poor for a gun that can be carried in SA mode, IMO. For both of us, Brother and I the FNX could not be fired comfortably when handling the firearm in the traditional SA 1911 style (thumb rides the safety). The safety lever would also impact my Brother's thumb during recoil causing a decent sized bruise. My Brother has large hands and I have medium to small sized hands.

Good luck.
