Default New to me Smith

Came across this Model 30-1 with 4" tube on consignment at the LGS. Picked it up today and it's everything I thought it was. Serial number puts it around 1969. It's my first Model 30, been looking for one for years it seems. Probably paid too much for it but I don't care.

Wow, I don't think I could have walked away from that one either. Great find, and thanks for pix.
I quit worrying about overpaying for guns, especially when I started hoarding things they don't make anymore It's easy to waste money anywhere, but it's honorable to blow your money on blued steel and walnut.

Absolutely beautiful! And you didn't pay too much (however much it was!). I live in a rural area and almost never see used revolvers in LGSs. I envy you guys who find these wonderful old revolvers, especially the Smiths!

S&W old school revolvers are just awesome. It's so nice to see them still popular with semi autos ruling the market.

Congrats, I bought a NYPD 1920's S&W (not great shape) and was probably just as jazzed as you are about this gun. (Yours is a lot better looking though).

And - it's just money - you can't always find an early smith..

"Probably paid too much but I don't care ..."

My favorite gun buying line. Long after you've forgotten the price you'll still be happy to have the gun.

Just think of it as you paid early on next years value.

Hot dog! By the way, what exactly is that object with the S&W logo that everyone uses to prop up their revolvers on the S&W forum?

It's a S&W prop rod. They give them out to shops to display their Smiths with. You can find them on eBay. My LGS just gave me one as they had loads in the back. Makes for fun pictures.

You can also get lucky in other places. I scored some at an estate sale for a dollar a piece as well as a set of target and magna stocks for 5 dollars each.

It is a nice revovler and have never seen one in person.
