Default Northern California Gun Shops and Ranges

Hello everyone.

I have recently moved to the Santa Cruz area and would like to hear from our Northern California members where I can find good gun shop. I'm looking for a place that offers competitive pricing first then selection second. Although San Jose is not that far away I would not mind the drive out there. Has anyone tried Markley's in Watsonville?

Where can I find a nice outdoor range? I understand that Markley's has an indoor range but nothing beats the nice outdoors mixed with some quality shooting time. Alright Nor-Cal folks, please let me know on this one.

For a good outdoor range try Los Altos Rod and Gun Club. Not too far from SC. Actually inbetween SC and SJ mileage wise.

Default Search option

There's a bunch of threads already posted all over this forum on what your asking about. Try using the search option and use the keywords "Bay Area gun shops"

Here's a couple:

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ad.php?t=26948

Also you are also kind of close to a lot of BLM and NF land for outdoor shooting and hunting.

Markley's is good for handgun practice.
Laguna Seca is an outdoor range open Friday-Monday, rifle up to .50 BMG, 50, 100 and 200 yard targets, 300 yard gong; handgun up to 25 yard target and also reactive range.

There is City Arms just south of you in Pacifica. Probably a lot closer places nearby, but what the heck, Hwy 1 can be a nice scenic drive.

i've purchased at markley's and would do so again. their price for the gun i bought was regular price only $5 more than another shop's sale price! i also prefer their range to target masters.

the outdoor range up on skyline is a hike for you coming from santa cruz but its a nice range. also consider http://www.sunnyvalegunclub.com/ if you're willing to drive. check out irvington arms for prices also.

Did someone move Santa Cruz while I was away this weekend? Boy I bet they're *pissed* to lose the warm weather and join the fog belt... (j/k!)

Har! Har!
Hey, fog is your friend! Having lived in the centeral valley, I don't miss summer heat one bit.
But ya, I'll never tan again in Pacifica.

If you're looking for a close outdoor range, your best option is the Scotts Valley Sportsman Club. It's only a couple of miles away and has both a pistol range and a rifle range (only 100yds though). PM me for details if you are interested in this membership only club and range.

There's Guns, Fishing, and other Stuff in Vacaville.

There's Montana Hawk (Northbay Firearms) in Cotati

And there's Helm's House of Guns in Santa Rosa

Outdoor world on 41st in capitola seemed good. I never actually bought a gun from there but the sales guys were willing to wheel and deal on a springfield loaded I was looking at, knocked a $100 right off the price (granted their original price was full MSRP). The guy also mentioned that they were OLL ftransfer friendly. This is all of about 1 year ago, because i moved out of santa cruz, but i thought everyone there was pretty friendly and service was goo.
