Hahahah. No. God no. That's funny. That's just my name here. I'll probably be the only gay there. I'm stepping up only because

1). I can't find anyone else that seems to be in charge (not that I care to be in charge)

2). If someone doesn't try and organize then we wind up looking retarded and that, once again, gives libs ammo to make anyone who believes in the 2nd look bad.

3). This is a flyer I made -- please help get the word out. If you look online here I posted other message that link to hi-res of the same flyer AND flyers for other cites where they can fill in their respective info

I have heard the gentleman who speaks for the Crossroads of the West gun shows, speak He gave an interview regarding the recent show in Ontario to the local news stations. He is well spoken, knowledgeable and comes across as very proffesional and well intended. He would be a good choice if he is available. He certainly stands to benefit from an appearrance and would present gun owners in a better light than others from the NRA have done recently.

I apologize, I don't know his name, but I am sure the Crossroads of the West website can get you to him.

If you can't find a speaker, perhaps you can ask attendees to step up and share a story of when they personally used a gun to stop a crime or other first person anecdotes.

The power of typical people using guns for good grows with numbers. Limit the stories to "I was really there" stories and give each speaker no more than three minutes to speak.

It turns you into an MC. You will definitely have to make sure you pre-screen your speakers and might need to gather several such speakers to make sure you have enough to keep momentum going,

Other topics you can use to solicit speakers:

Guns brought my family together through quality time/hunting

Guns put food on my table through hunting

Came from a country where guns were banned and saw the gov't brutality (like the guy from Tianeman Square who moved here, joined NRA, and bought a gun

Can speak on US history with authority, like the Appleseed Project members who describe the American Revolution and how guns got us our freedom.

I'd avoid people who have a beef with the US gov't--this is supposed to be a positive event and not a presentation of grievances.

It's been planned for awhile. The primary location was state capitols but someone started a Los Angeles rally for those who don't want to make the drive.

I tried contacting this person to see whats up but no luck. Anyone else try?

If it will be a medium or bigger crowd; bullhorns won't be loud enough to get over the background noise and/or counter protesters.

You have to watch out with that though. A lot of people make up stories. About guns, or being in the military, catching a fish, whatever...

I have used a gun to prevent a crime but I usually won't talk about it (in person) because so many people assume your making it up that I think it might make me look like a flake.
