Nothing further from the truth. While I was there I think one other person came in. I heard it said that there was only one investigator working that day and he was fully booked.

They are obviously very practiced. She ran me through everything like a well oiled machine. Kind of like buying a house but with more signatures. They keep asking the same questions and saying the same things over and over again!

Everybody was extremely pleasant and professional. They have you fill out a bunch of forms that have a lot of the same questions, including a form where you have to explain any "yes" answers. (Like donating blood!)

The interview was less of an interview and more of a going over the forms and verifying that you had read and understand them. He made no comment on my GC statement, which was somewhat more then "Because the 2nd amendment lets me!" or the "Prsonal Protection" that so many here espouse.

Now I wait for the background check and and neighbor interviews to clear and I will be called and offered a range date. They said 60-90 days for that call.

Tick tock!
Try to spend the next 3 months researching holsters, different ways of carrying, ammo, LTC videos.. It helps pass the time. Haha I've ordered numerous holsters and changed my whole list of firearms I'm putting on my license(if I get it). It's not too bad. I'm an impatient person when it comes to things I want and I've held up just fine. I've got roughly 3 weeks till my 90 days are up..

Got a call on Thursday to set up my range date for Sunday, August 11th.
That makes it just over 60 days. Not bad really, though it seemed much longer!

I already researched and bought a number of holsters.
Wore them around the house just to get the feel and break them in.

I bought an "ORIGINAL RUGER" from "http://n82tactical.com/n82store/" for my LC9 and really like it. Comfortable and rides well.

Also bought an IWB tuckable from DeSantis for my Glock, but it doesn't fit the Glock as well as the N82 holster fits the Ruger. I think I will get a tuckable from N82 for the Glock. But it's is a big jump in price for the tuckable!

Congrats!!!! We live in a great county where the SO is very pro-carry.

Find a carry setup that works for you and go with it.

Congrats to all that didn't shoot Bruce. Good to see more of us out there choosing to not be a victim.

Had my range day at the Apple Valley GC on the 11th.
Went smoothly.

Fellow students were cool. Everybody was pleasant and friendly.

Not too many knucklehead questions.

Instructor told us about having to slap a gun out of someone's hand at the class the day before. He was not happy!

Range part was easy. 10 rounds per gun into center-of-mass at about 15 feet.
I shot OK. Not as good as some, better then others. I tend to shoot low with my LC9. Need to work on that.

We all passed and the instructor told us it was the first time he did not have to "remediate" anybody.

Now I wait another month...maybe less!

Question about the Range Day: Do you have to fire all of the weapons going on your permit, or just one of them?

Confirmed.

You fire 10 rounds from EACH gun, including a clip change/speed loader. Not timed, but don't be ridiculous. Center of mass only. Bulls-eyes did not impress him.

I loaded 5 rounds into each clip. If you were using a revolver you did not have to use a speedloader for the first load.

They freely admit that this is not representative of a real scenario. Idea was that if you mess up here, in a (relatively) calm daylight flat-ground environment, then you would almost certainly be a hazard to yourself or others in a real-life situation.

Suggestion was to practice, practice and practice. Professional training was also recommended.

Thanks for the replies. Looking forward to the "extra" range time

...now if my other employer would return the Employment Verification form this time...
