Default Detonics MTX - I've been added to the wait list!

Estimated anywhere between 6-12 week wait time.

$1,500.

Ordered the one pictured. Excited!

A little step up from my XD-40.

I am young, at only 24 years old, and have no knowledge of how taxes crumble out. What would one get back on a tax write-off for a $1,500 handgun. As an off duty carry it falls under work related expenses.

If they do a full-size in other calibers, I'm all over it! Sweet gun. Please post a review when you get it.

Does your department (or whatever) REQUIRE you to carry off duty? If not then sorry, you're not writing it off. Just like us computer geeks generally can't write off home internet connection fees or computer equipment or cars except for the portion we actually use for work, which is basically nothing.

I could be wrong, but I'd be really surprised if you could write it off. Even if you could, what it means is that your taxable income would be reduced by $1500. If you don't make too much money, you would get back 20% from the $1500 in terms of taxes not paid. You still have to pay the sales tax though, and then I dunno if you can claim that against CA state tax.

Coworkers have explained that they write off their handgun purchases, range trips, ammunition, etc. They may be wrong.

Not that big a deal either way. As a peace officer in CA it definitely can be viewed as being job related. As I have to qualify with on-duty firearms yearly as well. I'll do some searching.

Very nice, I wish they were on the CA compliant list for normal purchase.

They were suppose to come out with the full size a year or two ago but I don't see it on their web site. Here's a pic I've had saved since 2011.

Maybe the OP has some info on the full size version?

Nope I have no knowledge of a full size - you could always give them a call and ask. Their number is on the site.
