Default Dave Spualding: Combative Pistolcraft Essentials

I just finished this last night. Spaulding is a great teacher and this is one of the best single videos on using a pistol for self defense that I have seen. Currently it's only available for monthly streaming members, but I am getting a hard copy as well for the shelf when available.

Nice. I'm going to watch it soon. Ken Hackathorn spoke very highly of Dave Spaulding. Hope to take a class with him this year.

Also, check out his great Handgun Combatives (Second Edition) book. The reason for the three stars is due to people complaining about the formatting of the discontinued Kindle eBook edition so ignore it because it has nothing to do with the contents of the printed book and get the paperback.

By the way, the rates for the Panteao Streaming Video Subscriptions will be going up per an emailed newsletter from them yesterday:

Quote:
Effective February 1st the monthly subscription will be $19.99 and the yearly subscription will be $165.00.
Current rates until then are $17.95 and $150.00 respectively.

You can also check out Dave's Ruger Tactical Tips series on You Tube.

He has a couple of series covering different topics (ex. handgun, carbine, competition, etc...) broken down into multiple 3-5min videos which are pretty good and the big plus...free!

Here's the main channel landing page:

Enjoy!

I also ordered the Dave Spaulding Handgun Combatives Set (Part 1: Proven Combat Shooting Essentials & Part 2: Enhancing Your Combat Shooting Skills) from Paladin Press to watch it and also to compare it (substance vs. sizzle) against the Dave Spaulding Combative Pistolcraft Essentials from Panteao Productions.

Great FREE resource Atekhed. Thanks for the tip.

These 20 short (2:39-6:18 minutes each which includes about 35 seconds of beginning credits which you can skip) video tips are great. I haven't watched them all yet. I may not agree with all that he says but he shows you a way and sometimes more than one. I learnt about the useful third eye ready position but interestingly he doesn't show the high ready.

Like Dave says:

Quote:
Please understand that what we're doing here is not a replacement for hands-on training...

It's not the same thing as having a skilled instructor stand next to you and correct those things that you're doing wrong...

Hands-on instruction will also give you that confidence that is so important when you're building these skills...

Seek good quality training.

I'll include each chapter below since now you can just watch what you need/want per subject matter.

Ruger Tactical Tips - 1: Mental Preparation

Ruger Tactical Tips - 2: Handgun Fundamentals

Ruger Tactical Tips - 3A: Pistol Reload

Tactical Tips-3B: Revolver Reload

Ruger Tactical Tips - 4: Ready Positions

Tactical Tips Part-5: Holster Skills

Tactical Tips Part-6: Cover and Concealment

Tactical Tips Part-7: Proper Training

Tactical Tips Part-8: All Weather Training

Tactical Tips Part-9: The Practice Session

Tactical Tips Part-10: Carry Gear

I very much agree.

The Dave Spaulding Combative Pistolcraft Essentials is a great and comprehensive video covering quite a lot and giving the viewer a program to follow. They are based on Dave's own extensive practical experiences and training with many outfits plus his gunfights and that of many others. Dave gives you the skills you need to prevail in an armed conflict. Solid practical advise which is illustrated time and time again. For instance, using 9mm, shot placement vs. stopping power, choice of targets used in training, etc.

Here are the chapters with the first nine being lectures:
  1. Introduction
  2. Dave Spaulding Introduction
  3. Combative Vs. Defensive
  4. Essential Vs. Fundamental
  5. Contents of a Combative Pistol Program
  6. Skill Building Pyramid
  7. Mindset
  8. Being Situationally Dependent
  9. Physiological Efficiency
  10. Equipment
  11. The "Concept" of Stopping Power
  12. Grip & Trigger Control
  13. Body Position
  14. Ready Positions
  15. Holster Skills
  16. Reloading
  17. Clearing Malfunctions
  18. One Hand Shooting
  19. Cover & Concealment
  20. Movement In Conflict
  21. The Importance of Dry Fire
  22. Conclusion
