the 9mm USP and the 40 is only alittle smaller than the 45 USP the difference is soo small you cant tell the difference unless your holding them together...

though this may be true... since i have never owned a fullsize usp9 i wouldnt know... i have owned a usp45.

but as far as the compact models go, from personal experience i do know the usp9compact is MAJORLY different then the usp45compact.

are u talking compacts or fullsize models ???

Compacts are different but fullsize is are slightly different ... The Fullsize 45 is slightly longer than the 9 & 40 ... How I know is the Quik Comp HK use to offer doesnt fit in my 45 but fits on my buddys 40 & 9mm ... The 45 is maybe an 1/8 of an inch longer.

Grip wise on the fullsize models are the same ... the 45 is slightly thicker and longer...

Ok so I have a question about the different control lever/trigger options that HK offers. What variant would be closest to a Glock style? IE no control levers and a nice trigger weight around 4.5lbs to 5.5lbs trigger pull?

Or is that not possible?

ETA - Or better yet, what style is the P2000 trigger? I got to try one at my local shop and I didn't notice any control lever on that, and I did seem to like the trigger on that one. Is that Variant 7 style trigger?

That would an LEM model / Variant 7 version or the variant 8 which is also known as a special variant for Government agencies ...

But thats double action only with a 7lb trigger ... I can get it down to 4 - 5lb trigger pull with an addition of a match trigger kit or 5lb trigger pull with me swapping out springs... I can also get it down to a 3lb trigger with an match trigger kit & some spring swaping...

Right now my HK USP 45 is a modified Combat Competition with a 3lb trigger pull...

I hope this helps...

Yes it did, thank you. And after getting to handle the P2000 in my local shop more today, I have decided that a Variant 7 is perfect for me

I've been using Wal-mart winchester 100 round 40 sw for while on my usp 40 full size. I did noticed lot of snapping and recoil. Last time i went shooting, my friend brought some ferderal rounds, and boy the gun feels so much different. it was just a basic federal with 180 gr. vs 165 on windchester. so much less recoil and less snappy. it almost felt like 45 cal.

anyone know what would make them so much different? is it the grain?

I notice the same as you. Although I wouldn't describe it like a .45. .40 snappy while .45 is more of a heavy push.

I'm guessing 155-165gr just leaves more room for powder in the casing, thus a snappier feel.

Is there a size difference in the frame between the 40cal and 9mm USP fullsize or are they the same? I know the 45 is a lil bigger.

I had it ported by Goshen Enterprises. I was very pleased how it came out, two slots on the top of each side, nothing in the sight radius was cut out.

I'm contemplating whether to go with installing a HK USP Tactical threaded barrel and screwing on a full compensator or have what you have done ... I use +p ammo on my USP and it has too much front flip; would like to tame it alittle bit more...
http://www.goshen-hexsite.com/index2.php did the port work.

http://www.coldborecustom.com/Home.html textured the frame, mag extension and did the magwell cutouts. The turn around time was like it was never gone.

The porting helped considerably with the muzzle flip. The best you could do is port it and shoot 200 grain +p ammo.

After taxes and dros I came in under a grand. It came with some other accessories, ammo, etc. Worth it to me because I always wanted one and now I have it. One less on my list...

Haha, I would love the LAM unit from the prototype US military Mark 23, but unfortunately those cannot be had. The nightstalker and insight LAM units specifically for the Mark 23 are the only ones I'm aware of. They cost a bit more than I'm willing to spend at the moment, and they are tough to find too. lol.

Short answer is no. At some point HK switched to laser engraving on the full size USP's ('04 according to this HKPro link).

I personally like the stamp/rollmark:

better than the laser engraving:
