Good luck, unless you are a cop you will most likely not be getting that one. I already tried for it. After several months I was told I did not qualify, and I am an Ex Code Enforcement Officer that holds POST level 1-3 certs. In order to get the rangemaster cert you need to be a cop else SOME places will not let you in to take that range master cert. But thanks for posting, Maybe I need to have another look at it.

Yes. I agree and I am going to give it another try and hopefully they will accept me. I would love to work on a police range and help cops to shoot better or check out their guns.

According to the flyer, you must have a POST certified Rangemaster class.

Beside your POST certificates did you also have a Basic Firearms Instructor, Basic Patrol Rifle Instructor etc. etc. etc. or any Armorer Certificates to name a few? I'm sure they didn't want to hire someone only to send them off to schools but somebody who already held these certificates and that's just the firearms side of the job. How about dealing with budgets? Of course last but not least some handyman skills.

Right off the application requirements, page 3.

YES. Many times also Cities will allow you to obtain a cert. This is the case in a large amount of jobs. I DID apply for this job and I notified them that I was lacking the cert and I was told that it was listed as a requirement but they might be willing to waive it if I can get it within 6 months. It does not matter though since it IS closed. LoL. I was on their website a few days ago and I did not see it posted so I was coming back here to have a closer look and ask how this info was obtained. LoL.

At this point though I plan to get the cert on my own but I gotta go to San Berdo or somewhere out that way to get it. I like working with Law Enforcement and as much as i hate the City govts and how long they take, I still enjoy working within the LE fields. OR computers...

As for others, well, perhaps when I can afford them I will go for them but for now the Rangemaster POST cert is a nice addition to my collection. I have a BS degree in information systems management and a few accounting classes under my belt, none of that stuff was required or even mentioned but dealing with a buget is nothing I can't handle.
