Default Polish Wz-48 .22 Training Rifle - Should I get it?

So Royal Tiger has had them for $249.95, shipped. It seems like a good deal, especially if you have C&R. Should I get one? How do they shoot? Opinions please, thanks!

Very accurate, very heavy single shot .22. Fun to shoot, neat ejection / extraction setup too.

I got one (looks unissued, from 1955) from Centerfire Systems about a year ago. I haven't had it out yet, but it is a beautifully made rifle. I think I paid about the same for mine.

Neat, historical rifle. I ordered mine with a Polish dog collar sling, too. The rifle looks great with that sling on!

I say go for it. I take a lot of newbies to the range and always wanted a single shot .22 to train them with.. but i could never in my head justify buying a new marlin for other people to shoot.

saw one of these and scooped it up. adds to my C&R collection and helps train people.

btw.. the shoot great.. do NOT dry fire them

Truly, these look very nice. Thanks for the photos Joefrank64k!

I think if someone wanted a Mosin with less kick, the low-recoil 54R ammo is another option.

I'd get it if it had no import marks.

I'd get it. I handled one once at a gun shop and I regret not buying it.

Also, don't dry fire these.

Ordered 1 .. Thanks for the link

I had been meaning to get one of these to go with my Polish M44

Centrefire had them, then raised the price , then they were gone.

Ha, with the availability of 22lr nowadays this rifle is a great way to be miserly with ammo. Take a long time to burn thru a brick

I pulled the trigger on that one too So I guess few of us will be comparing notes in few days? They did email me today asking me for my CFLC#. After emailing them back stating that I'm exempt, they said they made mistake. It had me worried for a moment there. Should be on the way today.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Gotta love free shipping, no tax and to-your-door shipping for a cool and historic rifle.

Same thing just happened to me. I hope that is the only type of mistake that they make.

They asked me for a CFLC as well. Showed them the DOJ website saying C&R licensees are exempt. Got the same, "sorry for the mistake" thing.

They were nice about ti though. I guess everyone who ordered this weekend from CA got shot the same email asking for it.

The funny thing is that this is the first time I had even heard of an CFLC. Had to google it. Another reason to have a class 03 I guess.

The firing pin is a very clever method keeping it centered in bolt -- -

My mauser goes to the extreme of off setting the bore to have the firing pin entered in the bolt -

That's a good question. I have no idea but it could be a fixed magazine like a real Mosin. That could be better for training.

EDIT:

Though looking at the picture on the website, I can't see anything coming out of the bottom.

I got one from Centerfire about a year ago to give to my parents as they shot them in high school in Poland. Brought back some memories

So what it the difference between the Polish 22 sling and a regular Mosin M44 sling? They look the same in the photos.

Nothing as far as I can tell. My .22 came with the sling from Centerfire, and it looks identical to the sling that came with my Polish M44. YMMV, of course.

Are the M44 slings any different from 91/30 slings? It's just a standard dog collar style isn't it?

They are the same sling style, but I believe that the 91/30 slings are longer.

Word. I have a bunch of them lying around from all my 91/30s since I don't attach them to save safe space. I can probably adjust one to the right shortness.

They were nice about ti though. I guess everyone who ordered this weekend from CA got shot the same email asking for it.

The funny thing is that this is the first time I had even heard of an CFLC. Had to google it. Another reason to have a class 03 I guess.
Yeah I had to google it too. As Vlad mentioned, they probably got slew of emails from us "I'm exempt, here is the link to CA DOJ that says so"

Same here, when I first found them, they had 21 in stock. So a day or two went by and I got in on it when they 12 left. Does anyone know if I can have FedEx hold it at their nearby location (Kinkos) instead of bringing it to my door. I know you can do it with ammo, but firearm may be different, no?

Have FedEx hold it at one of their FedEx//Kinkos type places. I've done it before with rifles.
