Sig P238 is my favorite .380. It is off list as well, just like the P3-AT and LCP. I have the LCP, and while it is a lighter gun it is not nearly as easy to shoot, and the sights are practically not even there. The P238 in comparison has a much easier single action trigger, and quality 3 dot night sights.

Did you try emailing? I found when I was looking for the P238, it was quicker to get a response from the owner by email that it was to call them. You also might be surprised with the availabilty of the P238. It does command a more premium price so a lot of people might opt for the less expensive lcp, Bersa Thunder, and the like before even considering the P238.

Here is the Wild Bill's e-mail address given to me over the phone by sales person Holly so I could send a photo of the P238 HDW off of the Sig website to verify that they had it in stock before I drove up "to claim my prize": ezpardner@yahoo.com

100 % dependable with the only exception being Tula ammo, stay away
from that. I carry it in a pocket holster in cargo shorts, or a pancake holster
during the colder months. Had not heard that they were no longer on the roster, but if so, I know you can buy a low mileage unit in the classifieds here,
in the $250-$300 range.
As far as balistics go, I've heard that any hit with
a .22 or .380 can really f***-up your day, and slow you down big time.
I feel good carrying mine.
yeah they just fell off the roster literally like the end of last month or so and initially it was said they had no intention of getting back on. now apparently that has changed and they're working on getting it california'd up to get back on. either way it'll probably take at least 6 months. straight away i saw the prices for used ones go up to around 400 dollars, lol. anyhow, yes, there are smaller .380s and 9s, but a 9 that small is NOT pleasant to shoot. the Bersa/PPK is a concealable size, that's easily manageable and pleasant to shoot, whereas a 9 of that size is not generally. if i find the right deal i'll buy a bersa, or wait til they get it back on the roster, or i might buy and SR9c.

If you can get your hands on a Sig p238, it's worth every penny. I placed an order for a P238-380-TSS-CA back in Jan 2012 with my local shop but Sig told them that they won't be available untilv

I like that PPK like Sig on the earlier pictures!
Is the Walther PPK or PPK/S not allowed in CA?

Last I checked, they weren't on the DOJ roster. They used to though.

What about 9mm? I know you mentioned .380, but have you looked at Ruger's LC9?
I really like my Sig 230SL but its big for a .380, and you have to watch for slide bite.
Happy Hunting!

I sold my Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380

When my Mom told me that she was buying me these two Taurus' for my birthday.

That's the 709 Slim on the right and the 738 TCP on the left. The Bodyguard had better sights but the trigger on the 738 is much better and it weighs a little more than an ounce less.

Sorry thought my original message went thru. Latest update for Sig P238 CA edition was in December 2012 indicating that Sig is extremely backed up right now and won't have it ready until sometime 2013. Got my deposit back and found a Sig P238 via private party. I love this pistol! Low recoil for the size and quality is superior to others. I shot that Colt Mustang Pocketlite 380 and love this gun so much more. Get it, you won't regret it.
