Default Surefire Ammunition at Gun Shows

Wanted to see if anyone else had any experience with these guys.

Found their booth at the Big Reno show in late November. They had run out of 223 but had a sign up saying you could order and they would ship for free. At the time the guy said they were about 3 weeks out from a ship date if we ordered that day.

Here we are getting late in January and still nothing. Have tried to contact them a few times with mixed results, got a call back around new years saying we should be shipping in the next few days, and an email last week saying they are looking it where our order is.

I was at the Cow Palace show last week and they were doing the same were out but we ship free thing there.

Anyone else waiting or have any experience with them?

I picked up 500 rds of 9mm from them at the Victorville Gun Show. Ammo looks decent, i have not fired it yet. But as far as the customer service at the show... they seemed VERY disorganized. One guy they had with them was just LOST with the difference in ammo. Had issues ringing people up etc.

Have not dealt with them in another way then at the show.

We bought several rounds from them back when we got 1500 9mm for $235 and 750 45 for $225 out the door cash only + no tax and what not. LOVE THEM.

With that said this is a reloading forum. I think your question would be better served in one of the other forums like general handgun or off topic or something along that nature. MOST people that come here will post those questions over in those other forums. Here we talk about how to build ammo, not buy it. There is a very big difference between the two.

I saw them at the Bakersfield show and they had some amazing prices on 10mm. Just over 30 cents/round. At that price, it's almost worth it to buy the ammo for the brass alone. Of course I had already gotten a case of 9mm and half of one in 40, so I didn't have any money left. I'll be looking out for them at the next show though.

between myself and family/friends we've gone through about 4000 rounds of 9mm, 4000 rounds of 40al, and 2000 rounds of 45cal. STUFF IS JUNK!! DO NOT USE IT!!!!

i love their ammo, its good stuff at good prices. i ordered 1000 9mm at the ontario show looking at the same sign you saw, hopefully it comes in the next week or so or it'll be over the 3-4 weeks quoted for shipping. they're horrible about answering their phones, always have been even before the panic buying.

I've bought a few thousand rounds from them of various calibers and never had a problem with quality, everything went bang like it was supposed to with consistency. Currently they are overloaded on orders, as I've been told by them.

Thanks for the replies.

Was not sure where to post this, but figured this was the best place. If someone wants to move it thats fine, but the title of Ammo and Reloading Factory Ammunition, Reloading, Components, Load Data and more seemed like a good fit.

Figured they were overloaded, even back when we placed the order but hearing them talk about delivery time at the show we never would have imagined it was this bad. Hope they eventually show up, I will post here when they do so others waiting will have some idea of how long things are really taking.

stilly, the name of the sub-forum is Ammo and Reloading, his post is gtg. This is the proper forum for anything ammo except selling.

Got a message back from them yesterday. They said that they are having problems getting components from their suppliers, but that they hope to have the orders from the Reno Show in November filled in the next few weeks.

I have no problem waiting... but it does make one a bit nervous having not dealt with them in the past.

I can't speak to their other calibers, but I've run 700+ rounds of surefire .40 through my sig 2022 and it has been flawless.

I've fun there 9mm, .40 and .223 and never had a problem.

I do believe they also make Oak Tree Gun Clubs in house brand ammo.

I am going to see them at the Reno show this weekend (if they are there) and ask also, but my understanding is that they are having problem getting components in. I think they will fill the orders eventually when they get the components, but I dont know how long it will be. I am waiting from the November Big Reno Show still.

Let me know what you find out, I will post up after this weekend with what they tell me also.

Surefire was at the Reno show this weekend, the same guy that we purchased from in November at the Big Show was there also.

They had a line going around their booth from both sides coming around to the end where they had 2 cash registers set up taking orders. They had a small amount of handgun reloads but no 223. They did have their same sign up saying they were taking order and would ship 223 for free.

I went to the end of the booth where they were taking orders and asked the guy I purchased from what their shipping turnaround time was currently on shipping 223, he said around 4 weeks.

I then told him that we had purchased ammo from them at the Big Reno Show in Mid November and had still not received our shipment. He acted a bit confused and asked me if I was sure it was all the way back in November, I produced a photo copy of his card, the receipt and print out of all our emails back and forth with them telling us just a few more weeks time and again. He looked at the receipt and said he was surprised we had still not been shipped. He said that they were running behind due to supply issues but if we were OK with a different type of bullet we could be shipped right away. I said that was fine and he told me that they would ship our order right away and wrote a note on the copys I handed him and put it in his stack of paperwork.

I guess we now wait again. Not sure if he wrote change bullets and ship right away or this guys a dick, delay his order more, I guess time will tell.

I am hoping Montz will reply with what he found out at his show... I hope to see something soon also!

Did you happen so see what the price was for .22 at Reno? We waited in line for a while but found out that they had sold out of the cheap bulk 22 so we left. Last time I purchased it was 5250 rounds for $170 and some change out the door with tax.

Was there long enough to see a older guy/girl get chased out as they tried to rip the ammo booth off for the second time that day! Apparently they grabbed something extra from the stack as they loaded out then they came back and tried to get a refund claiming that they had been charged for the wrong line item and it was more expensive than what they got. The cashier told them too bad, could not do anything about it now and they quickly tried to leave when another cashier came running around who remembered them from the earlier incident and went running off with security to chase them down.

Surefire will sell what they have on hand at the shows. But, if you want to be a customer..forget it! They could care less about you as a shooter/customer. I have had an order with them for 2000 rounds of 9mm...since DECEMBER. They don't care!

I was really hoping that these guys would be stand up...but they are ****. If you get their stuff from a show, it shoots. But don't order from them!!!!

Been shooting their ammo for a while, no issues and good prices. Paid for some back on Dec 1st Phoenix show and still waiting for it. Numerous calls and emails from me and promises from them on shipment. "Next week" seems to be their motto recently. Buy it in person, skip the ordering. When things get back to normal, I will remember this. Seems like if you have some to sell, you should be covering you back orders...

I bought 1k 125gr 9mm from then in December before all the crazies started. Decent ammo but runs a little hot. Got their business card from them at the time and tried contacting them about it but never got any word back.

A few people at the range I shoot at complain about their ammo and business dealings as well.

I would tread with caution.

We paid with credit card, so were covered. Normally we would pay cash, but if we dont walk out with the item then it goes credit card so we have some recourse and are not at their mercy.

Sent an email this morning, got another one of their "let me check and get back to you" responses. If no reply very soon then....

Take yer pick at which response (there are 3 of them)...

Option 1:

Looks like I forgot to put the /sarcasm tags on that second part...

And it took me over a month to get back cause I was not watching.

Good ammo when we bought it.

OR

Option 2:

Since I have gotten into reloading the only thing that I buy is components. Those are the little things that that make up the big thing that goes BANG. I am only taking a guess and it is a guess because I do not KNOW but on a guess, and that said it would be an educated guess at that, but I would DARE say that most other folks in here are kinda similar to me IN RELOADING only and not in any other sort of way. By this I mean that I would make an educated guess that many folks in here build their own bullets/rounds and do not really buy all that much. But I bet, and it is a bet for fun, not money or compensation of any sort that there would be a few more people in the handgun or rifle forums (that are NOT specifically related to reloading) that would have more experience in buying from the said company mentioned in the OP's post herein referred to as Surefire. (OP's should be taken to mean Original Poster's as in possessive form signifying that it was his/hers original post that started the thread.) I am just taking a figurative stab at a notion that they might not really reload as much as we do and would need a source of ammunition and would therefore be more inclined to have tried out at least once the brand named Surefire from their local gun show. That reason and that reason alone is why I have chosen to make that comment. I absolutely meant not to state that his question was not welcomed here as I used the wording "better served" because I meant that he should go there ("there" being the other forums that I had previously mentioned in this Option 2 response AND in my original response) and ask that question to them for hopes of a better collective group of people that would be better qualified to answer his question. Better qualified does not mean that they are smarter, but they might have the quality that the OP was looking for originally in that they HAVE made a purchase and shot ammunition from Surefire. It is quite possible that I am wrong in my assertion but in order to be right I have to make an attempt therefore I made my attempt. I do not blame you for your response to me since I clearly did not explain my reasoning behind my answer like I am explaining everything now. I was unaware that I needed to explain everything but I know that this is the interwebz and there is a vast difference among many people here, even in Calguns. I whole-heartedly (another figure of speech that I believe that I inserted to break up any monotony within this response) believe that we are all the same in that we usually like guns, but do have different educational and socioeconomical backgrounds. Thank you for your input. I guess if I need to make a comment in the future I will certainly explain my opinion or just use the /sarcasm tags (when they are available of course). In the event that no /sarcasm tags are setup I might use the /italics tags as a substitute...

OR

Option 3:

Just reload man...

Start hunting down components and brass and bullets and all that equipment and reading up and by the time you almost have everything you need to start your order will arrive.

That is how it will happen...

what is their email address that you're emailing? i've called and left a few messages with no reply. i'm still waiting on my 9mm from the ontario show in january. only actually talked to a person once, "should be out by the end of february, we'll call or email you with a tracking number."

i really don't want to have to cancel my order. its the only order i currently have pending and you can't find 9mm for 21 cents per round anymore. really sucks. i have enough ammo sitting in my safe, but it kills the fun quite a bit knowing i can't replace it.

To Stilly: Nice!

To bkk6869: I will post it up in the AM, we have 2 email addresses to them. We have left numerous messages but they have NEVER returned a single call. We have been getting the same "will ship you on Monday", "will send you a tracking number tomorrow" responses since mid December. They are great at talking, but not so good on the follow through. THANK GOD we paid with a credit card and not cash.

While this is a total guess, I am guessing that they are taking orders as fast as they can, guessing on the prices they think they can fulfill the orders for. As I have not seen anyone say that they actually received anything in recent months from them, I dont know if they have shipped anything or not or if they are just taking money. Their backlog has to be insane at this point.

My primary concern is that they could decide to go out of business with everyone's money then reform under a new company and just pocket the money and we would all be SOL. With ammo prices how they are and how many orders I am guessing they have backed up, I would be shocked if they didnt have $100,000 of peoples money, they had almost $1000 of mine and that was before any of the prices went crazy. Thats a lot of money and temptation. Maybe they are OK, but I dont trust random people that lie to me week after week after week to do the right thing at this point.

I thought this about Freedom Munitions back in December. Actually, November 29th was when I placed my order. I was frustrated that other people had placed their order on the 18th of dec and had theirs by January 8th or so. It pissed me off and I kept e-mailing and e-mailing and finally I called and left a message because that was all that I could do while sitting on my butt trying to figure out what could be wrong.

Then I decided to take a step back and just wait and see their move. I apologized to the other two people that bought ammo with me. But I had also sent 44 lbs of brass to these guys and I could not just cancel or make threats so they pretty much had me.

Then on January 30th or so I got a phone call adn she apologized for being so long getting back. They were OUT of my 147gr .308 bullets and wanted to know if they could sub 150gr bullets instead. I said SURE, I was just plinking anyways. She said that there was a run on orders and they had about 4k between DEC and January and they were fighting to get all thigns out and mine would be shipped within a week or so. Needless to say, I had my ENTIRE order on February 11th.

What does this mean to you? Oh please nobody make me explain it all but if my story could give you some guidance and maybe allow you to take a step back and take a breather and stop trying to call or e-mail them, then allow that guidance and follow it. I have declared this shortage over at the 15of of february, but that was not heard apparently so now I declare it over on the 15th of March. Wait about two weeks and then send in an e-mail. Surefire has been around for a few years to say the least, I feel that they would have every intent on fulfilling orders or giving refunds. The only thing I can offer you is patience. I tell you what, I will wait for your order also.

Already went the substitution route.

In February when we met them in person at the Reno Crossroads show I asked what the shipping time was, he said 3-4 weeks. I told him that I had ordered in mid November 2012 and still not received the shipment, he acted surprised and asked if I was sure it was November, I handed him the copy of the receipt and the printout of our chain of emails where they promised again and again to ship "this week". He said they were out of the bullets used for our ammo, and said he had just received 500,000 of a different bullet, could they use that one instead? I said yes that would be fine and he said they would get it out right away.

Fast forward a month. Here we are, still getting the same "this week" email.

I understand that they are back ordered. I understand that the demand is high right now. If they had ONCE given a honest answer like maybe, were are so backed up and short on components, it may be 4-6 months before we can get the ammo out I would feel better about it. The lack of honesty at this point is bigger for me. While I would like to get the ammo, I dont need it that bad and would rather be sure I have my money back vs loosing it when these guys disappear.

I left out the part when I received an e-mail telling me that sometime around the 8th of January, I was told that my order was on the shipping block and going to go out the next day.

Maybe send an e-mail telling them that they have 2 weeks or (give them SOME time) what not to get back to you before you have to cancel the order, but if you did put this on your cc then find out what the max time is before you can get your money back and is it confirmed that you have been charged? That is the one thing with me, I was not charged until the last week when it DID ship out.

The email we sent yesterday was that sort of thing, asked for a final ship date. If they said they would ship say on march 25th I would be fine with that, but as I said before my faith is wearing thin as we have already "shipped" many times and still have nothing. When I am lied to time and time again, I tend to loose faith in future promises. This is a big problem for me, better safe than sorry. The stop payment with the CC is not an issue, already talked with them and we can still stop it.

Also note that Surefire charged our card the same day as the gun show, they did not wait to charge it until they were able to deliver the product.

Here are the two emails we have for them:

SureFireAmmo@aol.com

ask@surefirebullets.com

YEah, sounds like a leap of faith at this point. If I were in your shoes, I would wait of course based on my previous dealings, HOWEVER, what was the amount you spent? If it were 300 or less I would chance it, but a bit more than that and I might have to pull out on the last day that I could.

i'm going to wait a little longer to cancel. like i said, i don't NEED it yet, just not as fun knowing i don't have a bunch to replace what i shoot. they charged my card on the date of the gun show, $234 for 1000 rounds. unbeatable right now and everywhere has a backlog. i'll let it ride...as long as i can stand it.

Sounds like SureFire attended the Jack Ross Ammo School of Business and graduated with honors! Geez...sell cheap, sell fast, over sell, under perform and lie your butt off.

Where do I start . . .

Paid for 1000 rounds of .223 @ .34 cents a round November 25th of 2012 at Costa Mesa in November. He had none left, but offered free shipping and to have them to me in three weeks.

Never happened. I called two or three times a week, always told they were still trying to fulfill orders, and yet they seemed to have some to take to shows. Finally cornered a guy on the phone, mad as hell, and on January 24th (that's two long months) was told they would ship me my order. Got the tracking number and everything.

Bullets never came.

Some clown at UPS lost them. (They stole them)

SuerFire's attitude? Well, we shipped them. Not our problem that you didn't get them. The didn't even offer to replace the order when UPS paid them off for the loss. I had to go through my credit card company to get my money back.

They are nothing but a rip off. Horrible horrible company.

Found them at Glendale,AZ show this morning. He gave me the 9mm he owed me from Dec 1, but he did not have any .223. Guy running booth (Mike?) was taking names on previous orders. I was second in line, and there were several guys behind me following up on their orders from previous shows. He told us 4-6 weeks on the .223 ship, that makes it a 5 month wait (if it really ships in 4-6 wks).
