Trying to be snarky? Sorry but posting the initial mockup picture is nothing compared to seeing it on video. - Something the OP couldn't have done anyway since SHOT hadn't even started yet. But if someone wants to post the video in that thread and merge/delete this one, thats fine with me.

How come the Mosin is shown without a bolt? I know they are prototypes but it would be nice to see what they look like with the bolt in place?

Still hoping that Datamancer finally gets around to manufacturing his version. I like the idea, just think that archangel's stock is fugly!

(I'm thinking to myself - it's missing a transformer logo)

Looks like a drop-in stock and completely reversable. Also, I hear a lot of those Chinese Type 53's had nice metal but bad stocks so it is an option for them. And the adjustable stock would be nice so shorter people can enjoy the Mosin Nagants.

If the stock costs $199, I don't see the point.

You would be up to at least $300 for just the rifle and stock...you could get a commercial sporter for that.

I looked it up, they are only manufacturing the stocks, not the actual firearm itself.

Too Bubba for my taste. Maybe if they were $99.00 and I had a realy beat to death stock with splinters, but all of my Mosins are purty.

Here is what someone on the Nevada Shooters forum says:

Quote:
I talked to them at SHOT about it. First detachable magazine on a Mosin, it will come with a 5 round with 10 rounders available separately. It is setup for use with a timney trigger if you want. The barrel is free floated, but has a barrel tensioner if your gun does not shoot well free floated. MSRP will be 199, he figures actual street price will be around 165, should be hitting around March.
I wonder how much the mags run? Coincidentally, I just put in an order for 5 Type 53s at JG Sales, since $119 seems under-priced in the 2013 market. Reading this thread, I was torn between the "too cool" vs. "too bubba" points of view. There is no way I am about to spend $1K on stocks for $600 worth of rifles, but I might spend $165 for one. Or I might wait until they come down in price below $100, since that is what most replacement stocks run. Still, there was something about seeing the M44-style bayonet in the video that made me want one of these.

The video says that additional magazines will be $24.95.

This one is a much cooler design than mine. It's funny, though, I almost made this exact rifle except with a 10/20'ed Lahti-Saloranta mag and a custom stock I started molding in aluminum from a plastic airsoft "super-duper-mega-awesome tactical black ops sniper rifle of death", but the ergonomics were way off on the toy and I never got around to reworking everything.

This was an inevitable invention considering the popularity of the Mosin. Even if I had the time to devote to mine and brought it to market, this thing would have probably come out soon afterward anyway and crushed it, and it's different enough from my design where the patent would have been useless. I'm kind of glad I didn't waste the time, actually. Big props to the designer. It's a clever mod. I'll be getting one, for sure.

Compared to the ATI stock, that thing is gorgeous. I would buy one if the price is nice.

Datamancer, please don't give up on your mags just yet. I would like one of those for a more traditional look. It would be the same as if Magpul said "oh well, all these other companies make stocks and magazines. There'd be no point if we try to make our own".

Datamancer, do you still plan to release your design at all? I think there's still a market for Mosin Nagant owners who want a 10 round magazine, but don't want the Archangel stock. The mags for the Archangel stock are only good for that stock and nothing else. I've been building a 91/30 on a CBRPS Cossack stock and have been awaiting your version for a long time to finish this project.

sadly I recieved this today

Hello and thank you all for the continued interest and support in the Mosin magazine project. Thank you for all your emails and inquiries and my apologies if I wasn't able to return them all. As some of you know, I run another company which specializes in custom fabrication and eats up most of my time and attention. I think I finally have to begrudgingly admit that I simply don't have the time and bandwidth right now to produce the mags myself. I would still definitely like to produce them, but I think I'll need a little help. What I would like to do is open up discussions with anyone out there who might have the capability to do a medium to large-scale production of the mags. I will provide the prototypes, 3D renders, and my input and guidance along the way, but I'm looking for a company to basically run with the idea and I will take an understandably smaller slice of the pie, in more of a "licensing" sort of arrangement. I believe that the product has a lot of potential and I hate to see the project stagnate for lack of time. If you are interested, please contact me at "datamancer@datamancer.net" and tell me a little about your company and yourself. I want to do business with someone that has experience in this industry and is above all else, trustworthy and honest.

Thanks for the continued enthusiasm and support, folks. I really appreciate it.
Have a great day,
-Richard R. Nagy

Please someone help him!!!!!

I am buying another Mosin just for when these come out(from what I hear will be 2 months) but my question is in a hypothetical horrible world where the AWB was passed and you cannot have a detachable mag with 1 or more "evil features" this would make the Mosin in this stock an "AW" right? That stinks. I still want one.
