Big 5 had them at Christmas, but haven't seen any lately.

Big 5 sold out in my area and I guess it's "first come first get" when ever they get more. My other local FFL has several on order but they don't know when they'll ship.

I want one, my friend wants one, etc. Ruger sure hit a home run with that one!

I talked to a manager at a Big 5 in San Jose and he told me that they usually get a few every other week but they sell like hot cakes, he also informed me that they get their shipments on Fridays so if you're in SJ check them out on Friday afternoons
Hopes this helps

Not a bad price at all. I see most guns sites selling them for $399 and up at this time.

just to spoil the fun a bit. Last weekend I did my range safety officer duty. One young man brought in the 10/22 take down. After having few hours fun shooting, he could not separate the rifle to two pieces. He can disengage, turn and pull apart by 1/4 inch or so, then move no further. Few of us tried and no luck. He had to put back to the complete rifle configuration and bring home to a guns-smith.

He said there is some heat treatment quality issue causing some 10/22 with this problem.

^^^^^^^^^

I have a 10/22 and sent hundreds of rounds downrange and NEVER had problems separating the halves.

Now I have seen other 2 other shooters having the problem you described and I fixed it for them; I told them that they needed to lock the bolt back before breaking down the rifle. After they locked it back, they both were able to separate the rifles.

this rifle has caught my attention lately as well. It is now on my must have list. Check out the sweet folding stock with pistol grip that this guy has on his. Makes me want to get one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9O8eOHXxr0

One question. Would putting a stock/pistol grip like that make it into an "assault weapon" in CA if you also used it with a legally owned high capacity mag? That would be a shame if it did....... it's a .22!

I picked mine up on Sunday from the Big 5 on Stevens Creek, It was $389 I wonder where the price difference comes from?!?!

Also they said if it goes on sale in the next 30 days you can get a refund for the difference.

Mine was listed for 389 but i made a comment about the 299 price back in December so he knocked 20 bucks off for me. Picked mine up from jail today and heading to the range to cycle some rounds

Now which one of you folks is responsible for buying up all the extra magazines? Kindly knock it off Can't find one anywhere, sheez!!!

If you have a Turners near you just put one on what they call "layaway" and as soon as they get one in stock they call you. You pay 30% up front and the balance when they get it in stock. My friend did this last week and they got one in today so they called and he just dros'd it tonight.

Their prices are the same as before sandy hook and they still have their sales. I think they are one of the best places to buy a gun in California.

Picked mine up two weeks ago from Big 5 and also paid $389. As stated above, bolt has to be locked back to separate the barrel from the receiver.

I broke mine out of jail a week ago... paid $389 (this store in San Jose was asking $429). I have yet to shoot mine. What kind of ammo are you guys using? Are any of you guys using a scope? I'm interested in getting a scope but it has to fit in the supplied bag.

i'm using CCI Minimags in mine, I have scope on my takedown but I use Leupold Quick Release scope rings, since the bag comes with a compartment for a scope anyways

Does the scope hold zero with the quick release mounts? What kind of scope are you using?

PM sent re: your comment on Ruger 10/20 magazines, I've got some extra you can buy FTF from me in Bay Area, 2x black for $30/ea and 2x clear for $25/ea basically covers my cost. (all new in box)

BTW, for others on this thread, I picked up a takedown today (NIB) that I'm open to selling at my cost to fund some AR stuff I just bought, $450 ($389 + DROS + TAX), FTF Bay Area, send me a PM if interested.

im using a Leupold VX-1 2x7-28mm scope and really happy with it. Also like the fact i can pack it back in the case without having to remove the scope. my only complaint is that it comes with a rubber scope cover instead of flip up caps.

C-mo the vx-1 that you mentioned is actually one of the scopes I was looking into. Which scope mounts are you using? I was wondering if the leupold PRW1 (low) would work with this combo.

Yeah the Quick Release Scope Rings seem to hold zero well, I just picked up a super cheap BSA Scope since I didn't have much money after buying the 10/22 and a s&*# load of .22 ammo at the time

Get the auto bolt release, it's great and very easy to install. (or modify your existing one) I think I have an old one if anyone wants to mod it. (can't remember where I put that)

Looks like they are now making a 10/22 take down with a threaded barrel.

Just bought one today at Bass Pro Shop. I tried Big 5 on thursday and was told no Big 5 in Socal has em. I happened to be close by Bass Pro today and figured it was worth a shot. They got 2 in this morning and I snagged 1. I love the pack it comes with. Cant wait to get it in 11 days.
