Default Browning HiPower Renaissance

Albeit I only have one HiPower, I am a huge fan. I'm sure over the years when the money is right, I will collect many more. My interest is in the history, availability, production, and price of the Browning HiPower Renaissance version. (Picture below).

Here are my current understanding:
>The Renaissance is a Browning production, including in-house engraving.
>It was only available through special order from a few Browning dealers across the United States.
>There are fake Renaissances in the market (which Browning can verify)
>Gun Broker shows some available in $3500-$4000 range which indicates special order from a dealer would be around $2500.

Please correct me if any of my assumptions are incorrect.

Questions:
>Is it still being produced?
>If yes, where and how can they be purchased?
>Are there any mechanical differences from a standard HP?
>Is there such a thing as MSRP on the Renaissance?
>I've heard they were possibly on ATF C&R list but have since be removed. I have check the most recent list and could not find them. (perhaps my mind and/or eyes are failing)
>Do they / where they produced in .40 and 9mm?

There were a bunch made up to '77. They are on the C&R list just were accidentally omitted from the last 2007 printing.

There's one on GunsAmerica for $3k. I'd get the serial number and contact FN, as there are a lot of engraved guns out there that aren't factory.

Browning still makes them, they're not on the CA list so you'd have to SSE one.

They don't hold value very well, and are tough sellers. Maybe Saddam is selling his:

I don't think Gaddafi needs his any more, either:

I'm not too worried about it holding value when it comes to my personal collection. I'd rather just look at it all day and shoot it!

Can you explain?
"not on the CA list so you'd have to SSE one."
What CA list? what is SSE?

okay I understand the SSE part now. Simples fairly simple.

Now, in regards to the other questions... they are still made?

Hmmm....pawn stores? Pimps going out of business? Mabe Bashir Assad has one he's not going to be needing soon? ROFL..

Sorry but I can never understand the appeal of all that engraving on a weapon.

If it is on the C&R list no SSE is necessary. C&R handguns are exempt from the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale requirement.
