Laws do not prevent behavior they only establish consequences
Laws do not prevent behavior they only establish consequences. One set of 'consequences the law abiding citizen has to use upon the elected politicians is the Recall'. Californians successfully recalled Governer Grey Davis.. other sitting politicians can also be recalled. Thus giving serious financial consequences to the politicians that are intent on violating the constitutional rights of the law abiding people. The elected official(s) that face a recall fight will have to spend their campaign funds to fight the recall process against others who believe in constitutional civil rights, and would (or will) campagn against them. This recall process would immedietly make it harder for the recalled politicians to raise more donations to finance their continual campaigns, thus giving the same financial 'behaivior modification' to them that they continually try to impose on the law abiding people by taxes, and fines.
Since the politicians prefer to insult the integrity of the law abiding citizens by continuing to insinuate that peaceful, responsible law abiding people should be held accountable for the actions of criminals, it seems the politicians should be aware the citizens can and will be able organize recalls against them.
The politicians are offering no real substance to truly address the 'violence' within or society that is perpetrated by the non-law abiding people, be it with anything used to harm or kill we innocent law abiding people (not just guns). The provisions and proposed laws being espoused are only items that are going to endanger the law abiding citizenry at large by further constraints on lawful persons, while un-lawful persons will not be affected as they already do not care about nor follow written laws.
Gun control would work if criminals would just follow the law.
