Summary of 2013 legislation

Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:

Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
120 specifically-named firearms;
Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one or more military characteristics; and
Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.
Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test;
Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test; and
Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans.
Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment;
Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes; and
Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons.
Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
Background check of owner and any transferee;
Type and serial number of the firearm;
Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration.

How can something with a fixed magazine be labeled as an assault weapon... People are sheep.

"Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:...

Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons."

What about the rights of the rest of the population? How does exempting permanently disabled weapons protect any rights? Most people do not even know the definition of an antique fire arm....Are they suggesting my rights are protected because I can keep my guns if I permanently disable them? WTH!

Remember that none of us is obligated to obey unconstitutional laws. Especially laws that would not be accepted so they are slammed in with executive orders. Where were these executive orders when families were being kicked out of their homes by the banks?

Just sent the canned letter to all my rep's through the Ruger website. My boss had been bugging me about it for a week and I finally got around to it.

Well I just read that the assault weapons ban will NOT be part of a democratic gun bill that expected reach the Senate floor next month... instead it will be offered as an amendment this set forth by the democratic party already uphill battle that will end in defeat the democratic doesn't want the AWB to be the sticking point in the bill...

This being said LET THE PRICES DROP on AR parts and AK parts... the selling sections is horriable

Just by some tiny sliver of a something to laugh at chance, what if political press releases were to stir up the gun community to increase hoarding , increase ammo prices and turn us all against each other based off of the fact that it's a free country and we have rights only to r made an example of?
We all need to chill the eff out step back and take a look at wtf is going on as a whole. Not hang off of every word a crooked politician had to offer for a dime when it's really not worth 2 cents??

Who cares that Feinstein's AWB is going down? There are at least 45 anti-gun bills here in California for the next legislative session, most of which will pass. Don't forget that we live in California, rated on the Guns & Ammo list as the 47th worst gun environment.

Do you want to register every semi-auto and or magazine fed gun you own for eventual confiscation?
Do you want to pay this state .05 for each round of ammo?
Do you want to pay the DOJ a $50.00 extortion fee to buy ammo?
Do you want no more Internet ammo sales?

I don't foresee things ever getting back to "normal" in this state, the way that they were 6 months ago unless, miraculously, none of these proposed bills come to pass.

I've read conflicting reports on this... is it $0.05 per round, or per box? Got a link to verify handy?

The sheep are the ones that never cared if our rights were/are at risk. The ones that bought over the last four months are just fashionably late to the freedom party and are paying for it.

I wouldn't call them sheep, I would call them previously naive.
