Default IO AK Sporter - has much changed?

Hi all,

Been about a year since this thread:

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=572892

Has anyone gotten an IO Sporter in the interim and can comment on the quality (or lack thereof)?

Thanks much.

In before: "but I want to hear from people who have bought them in the past few months, not people that experienced how crappy they used to be".

They earned themselves a terrible reputation, and haven't appeared to do anything over the course of the past year to prove otherwise except give a couple hand picked rifles out to people to "review". You're not going to find many people with much to say about them lately since most folks(and shops) aren't bothering with them. Yes, there are a few satisfied customers, it's hard for a company to really screw up the product 100% of the time, but I could also find people with a positive opinion of Vulcan/Blackthorne/Hesse (that "chrome lined" bore that was just spraypainted still cracks me up) as well. Frankly I think those folks should play the lottery more often.

Not all IO rifles are created equally. If yours says Poland, it's a Radom factory gun that had the mag well opened up and 922(r) parts added after importation.
The IO CASAR is/was a piece of garbage that should be held up as an example of poor craftsmanship, and sh#t quality control.

I have one. I went against the calguns gurus and bought one. I inspected it carefully. No canted sights. No loose rivets. Nicely put together and no issues so far. My advice is to inspect it before you buy it. For 500 bucks it was well worth it. And it was in better shape then the wasr and m10 I looked at.

Mine was a great East German parts kit. The receiver was worthless. I replaced with an akbuilder flat and the bolt no longer comes off the rails. So.......Once it was completely rebuilt, on a new receiver, with new rivets with the help of qualified people- it was a tank.
