Default How much brass do you put in your Thumler's tumbler?

I am just curious how much brass you guys are putting in your tumblr. Per the instructions you are only supposed to put two pounds brass. So in order to tumble 1000 rounds 223 it takes forever. How are you guys doing yours?

I do about 4 lbs of stainless pins, about 350 .223 cases, and about 13 cups of water. Initially I was doing 450 cases in 12 cups of water and it took too long to clean (about 4 hours for the primer pockets to shine) With only 350 cases the primer pockets shine in 2 1/2 hours. For me 350 cases at a time is fine. Just experiment with the ratios until you find what works best. The recipe that come with the pins is only a guideline. I would however not exceed the rated 15 lbs of the tumbler. Hope that helps.

I do 100 rounds of .223 for 30-45 minutes and they come out great.

Aren't you selling your tumbler?

Regardless,
I use less water and more brass. I fill a 2 liter bottle of brass up to the bottom of the label as my guide. My 5lbs of media is in there. I fill the water just to the too or a little over the brass. Tumble for 2 hours and it gets everything awesome. An hour will more than suffice. 4 hours is overkill, but the brass comes out amazing.

Around 200-250 pieces of 223.

Nice and shiny

Yeah I am trying to sell mine so that I can get the big one that tumbles 1k-1.2k brass at a time. It just makes things go soo much faster.

I load mine up with anywhere from 5-9lbs of brass.
