Tacticals at Gander showed in stock until you tried to put them in your cart. Then OOS.

When this shortage first started I was able to buy a lot of .22 from Palmetto with no limits and fair prices. Then a few weeks after I bought I saw their prices go up and up. I bought two cases of Aguila HV Shorts. I guess they thought no one would want them. They shoot great in my lever action rifles and SA revolvers.

Not bad at all, I am still waiting for M193 and 855 to go below the $400(preferably $350) threshold before I order more.

I've got enough for my shooting needs for a while so I am in no hurry.

Thank you! I was about to buy from Cabella's but they have a 1 box cap on their $3 50 round boxes. Just bought ten from Gander Mountain.

So for those of you long term storaging ammo, Costco has the foodsaver sleeve kit for $8.00 off. Gets you a lot of sleeve, pre-cut bags, and the sleeve is big enough to seal up a rifle.

That's a good price .. for 10/2013 .. the SS109 is the FNB 62 grain Bullet design adopted by NATO .. not the cartridge. M855 being the US Military designation would have sealed and crimped primer pocket and sealed nose/cannelure for water proofing, and charged with two-phase powder. The XM855 stuff .. who knows .. for short term storage .. plinking/practice .. probably just fine. The imported "M855" NATO stuff is currently gonna be more expensive.

Seriously .. 12 packs of 50's .. http://www.sgammo.com/product/federa...-atk-blackhawk .. $199.50 plus estimated $28.00 for shipping. Maybe your LGS has pallets of used for $15.00 bucks a copy .. lucky you Quantity in Stock at time of posting:16 units (12 packs)

In a moment of weakness, I too got one of those Cabela's 2,100 rounders for a Hundred bucks .. it occurred to me .. y'all caint eatem'. Lists at $226 plus shipping from Salt Lake .. or for $100 bucks from Sam's with free shipping (55 pounds per) .. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/augason...Id=prod3111476 .. dropped shipped from .. Salt Lake .. such a coincidence.

Bumping up the Link .. http://www.cabelas.com/checkout/item...54&WTz_l=Chart .. <- in case mono is still lurking

the imported USGI / NATO spec labeled is going to be more expensive in some cases however not necessarily any better..

in some countries where poor handling / storage or questionable qc takes place, could be even worse.

and remember boys and girls, if you are offered USGI manufactured modern ammo, it comes by one of three means: stolen, stolen, or stolen.
Good Call! I have some Danish M855 .. packed like surgical instruments .. and with the NATO head stamp of course. PMC (South Korea) makes M855 .. crimped and sealed, but is not a NATO country .. hence no cross head stamp. I did see an authorized listed manufacturer for M855 .. in Taiwan .. also not a NATO country .. I have none, so can't say as to the head stamp or crimp/seal stuff. The new stuff coming in from Lithuania looks good, but still kinda pricey.

And for sure .. I wouldn't touch USGI LC M855 with a ten foot pole if it was offered for free. That'sa beegga trouble amigos

I shot a ton of "Korean" 5.56 NATO that came in 20 round plain brown cardboard boxes in the late 90's to early 2000's that sold for less than $2 a 20 round box and was great stuff. Too bad surplus 556 has mostly dried up.

CCI 40gr in jewel case for $8.49. 5 box limit. Just a little over 9cents a round. Not bad

I think its because it takes up as much line time to make but usually doesn't sell as fast. Maybe even more line time because they have to change over for a shorter run. When I was a kid the shorts and longs were less money than the long rifles.

For the same reason that 380 ACP's ($38 for Win) cost more than 9 mm ($26 for Win). The 380 has a shorter production run than the 9, so less is made to spread the setup and run time costs over the number of rounds produced. The shorter the run, the more costly the item. Just like 303 said in the previous link.

So there's lc stamped M855 all over the place. How is it illegal? The X designation as I understand it is seconds that don't pass mil inspection and get resold in commercial bulk. Same cartridge as I come to understand it. I have Fed XM80 that is stamped LC 11 with the nato cross in circle.

But how could one tell the difference between USGI and commercial M855?
per Midway's copy: "This Federal Lake City Ammunition has been loaded and passed true NATO specifications. This is the same ammunition that is currently being used by the US Military and met their strict quality assurance standards and specifications."
afaik its the same stuff.

Well I'm positive mine's legit.... I got it from a major vendor a few years ago.
So no dice on sending it to you to safely dispose of 303. I was born at night, but not last night!!
The 855 stuff might be questionable in some LEO's eyes as it designated penetrator tip which they may interpret as armor piercing.
But this is the rimfire finds so we've digressed substantially from topic here.

I guess watch out for guys selling belts of it off the back of the supply truck or humvee then when you meet up for an ammo purchase.

You are over thinking it. Weekends are slow and you'll pick up one zee two zees here and there. Enjoy your weekends. Monday's there is a 50/50 chance for a frenzy. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays be on your toes. Since I'm om a 22lr buying hiatus, and looks like we have a lot of active contributors right now, here's a clue...Thunderbolts!!!

I've not used Gander, but there are two notes of interest on that offer .. 3) One $9 surcharge will be added to orders containing ammunition, and 5) Additional discounts do not apply.

So it's possible that the $10 GMT10 discount cannot be applied to offset their egregious ammo "Surcharge" of $9.

Since the M-14 and M-60 have both been "basically" retired from our arsenal, perhaps the difference between XM80 and M80 is no longer significant. I read one blog where the author said that the "X" means it's re-manufactured .. really .. lol. The only consensus I've found is .. that LC 7.62x51 Brass is excellent for reloading.

This is ________ .. http://www.gunbroker.com/All/BI.aspx...deral+champion .. Now this bein' a G-rated family site, you can fill in the blank word ..

I still think Gander is the better value than Midway or Cabela's just based on the fact that they have limits of ten instead of one. Free shipping over $50, and if you make it to $100, a ten dollar deal sounds even better. Even with the $9 surcharge. And yes, LC 7.62 brass commands a good price for resale. Sold a bunch off earlier this year

I will agree but with the caveat that your ammo arrives in good condition. Last time GM might as well shipped the ammo loose inside of a small cardboard box...
