If by now you mean 20 years ago then yes. They've been saying stuff like this for a long time. I have no way of knowing if it's true or not, but I use all BPA free bottles just in case. They don't cost much more and are dang near indestructible. If you want to play it ultrasafe I guess you could go for all stainless steel water bottles..

PET 7 has BPA. dont reuse - this is old news.
there is no proof that reusing PET 1 bottles a few times is harmfull. maybe if you used it for 10 years the plastic may start to break down and leach into the water. |

Also, do not leave water bottles in hot cars or put them in the freezer.
All my Nalgene bottles were older models and had BPA in them, so I tried Camelbak bottles, they sucked. I have since switched to stainless steel. No PBA's, no liners and in an emergency, I can boil water in them. |
