Default Ammo from other states

Is it legal to bring ammo from other states into California? For example Arizona

Yes. As long as it is not prohibited ammo such as tracers (and there may be others).

No tracers (except in certain shotshells, iirc) and no "armor piercing" Other than that, order online, buy in AZ. It is all good

Yes you can bring most ammo in. Some AP is legal. Tracers, Inc are not.

"Any projectile containing any explosive or incendiary material or any
other chemical substance, including, but not limited to, that which is
commonly known as tracer or incendiary ammunition, except tracer
ammunition manufactured for use in shotguns." (Penal Code 16460 a 1)

"Any person, firm, or corporation who, within this state knowingly
possesses any handgun ammunition designed primarily to penetrate metal
or armor is guilty of a public offense and upon conviction thereof shall
be punished by imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170,
or in the county jail for a term not to exceed one year, or by a fine
not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000), or by both that fine and
imprisonment. " ( 30315)

So no AP for handguns, but rifles okay. No tracers except shotguns
