Speaking of water.. Mother nature finally topped off my new rain barrel, it will only be used on edibles.

I feel like such a hippie..

The cafeteria where I eat lunch is "eco-friendly" with metal silverware, but for to-go orders they give out high quality Lexan polycarbonate utensils, not the cheap flimsy white plastic ones. Since I usually order the soup, I have recently started taking the Lexan spoon but saving it instead of using it, so now I have 30 or 40 of them. My plan is to feed all the refugees that come my way a gruel made of chicken feed from a communal trough, but they each get a nice Lexan spoon to feed themselves as my gift to them.

1. Rotated my canned goods.
2. Bought 10 lbs of honey.
3. Bought Candles. Those $1.49 religious candles at Walmart work great, it comes in a glass to prevent fire. You can pick the ones without religious stickers.

I looked into honey recently, many honey bottlers are using honey from China that has been proven to contain more corn syrup than honey. Everything they found at major grocery chains as well as Costco that wasn't from a local producer contained corn syrup. Soux Bee honey was found to contain corn syrup.

Easy fix, buy USA produced honey. If it's organic the better, try your local street market.

I think the colored ones are the one with scent. I usually pick the white one unscented. And I just checked out the candles, best part it..... it's made in the USA!

The .99 stores have the same candles for .99 each - slightly smaller, I prefer them. No scent on them. The "Saint" part of the candle is just a wrapper, you could take it off, but I figure if the world is so bleak that I need a candle for light - I'll want all the help I can get.

Good to have because in a true SHTF scenario those scanner apps that required internet and cell data connectivity will be offline.

Last one I bought, the action just leaked away the gas, useless. I'll take a pump action or a Wrist Rocket any day.

I am sure if would be a good non-lethal deterrent, and being portable, with no hose is a benefit.

Yesterday I took a 'Intro to Tactical Rifle' class with Team 3 Tactical.

I learned a ton... my biggest takeaways were:
1. I'm really out of shape and have to fix that
2. Shooting while moving and staying on target is so much harder than it looks (sounds obvious huh?)
3. I need a LOT more practice

Bought $100 worth of Augason Farms 30 yr. Milk, Strawberries, Cheese Broc Soup (7) #10 cans.

Kinda worried about milk and this Fukushima thing, may stock up. Worst that can happen is the Grandkids drink it 30 years from now when it goes bad. Milk should be about $20 a gallon by then and I will be their hero.

The ones in the video (Steel Storm) will leak every time if you leave powerletts in the mag inserted. All you have to do is hit the release after shooting, but I did the same damn thing.

Easy fix to install new O-rings though.

A found a good survivalist shop that's 5 min drive from my work called APLUS Survival in Santa Ana. Place is awesome. Owner hooked me up with a living plant (blackberry i think)

Today I picked up some stuff for a hiking/b.o.g etc:

Blast match fire starter
8 pack wet fire
50 foot paracord
Whistle for life
Aquamarine frontier pro water filter
Goal zero nomad 7 solar panel, goal 10 and a switch 8 battery packs (surprised how little weight and space it all takes up)
Few millenium bars in different flavors to try out.

I picked up one of those Esbit stove/kettles with the weather guard around the solid fuel area. The right size for boiling 2-3 cups of water for dehydrated food. Fits in its draw string bag with a box of fuel tabs inside. Stored it in a backpack.

Passed my Technician and General FCC ham tests. I whiffed the Extra but didn't really study for it and guessed on at least half of them. Now to pick a decent radio. Would really like an Elecraft KX3 but probably out of the budget unfortunately.
