Default Powder Reccomendations...

I am currently using Varget and IMR4064 with my .308.

Was wondering what SIMILAR powders people would recommend?

The .308 is for my Remington 700.

My two favorites, right there.

I recently gave AR-Comp and 8208XBR a try. They both metered better than my favs. AR-Comp consistently produced the lowest SD's I have ever gotten, I actually got a few zero SD's on multiple strings. Sadly, I could not get either to group as well as IMR 4064 (my always best grouper) or Varget (always my second best grouper).

Varget in 308 is great. It's all I use and very common.
I guess you could try 8208xbr or benchmark if you wanted.

BL(C)-2, TAC, Varget, RL-15. For semi I use TAC and BLC, varget is great for BR but if you load on a progressive, annoying.

I found a more accurate load with TAC and 147grain fmjbt than I could get with either Varget or 4064.

I've shot many pounds of BL-c(2), H4895 and IMR4064 through my 308

R15 is probably the closest to those two powders. Ball powders like BLC2 meter great,w846 is another good ball powder to load bulk plinking rounds with.

Win 748 has always been excellent for me using 130 and 150gr bullets. Also in 223 with 55gr bullets. RL15 is also good. For 125gr bullets in the 308win Benchrest was great.

You might also try H414 and 4350. I generally begin with the starting load and work my way up in 2 or 3 tenths of a grain increments. It is amazing how group size can change with just a slight change in powder charge.

Vihtavuori's N140 and N150 are solid choices. N140 is similar to Varget, R15, and IMR4064. N150 is slower, think IMR4350.

I used to load H4895 and now I load Varget exclusively in my LR308. No other suggestions needed.
