Default Glendale Gun Show to be shut down?

Looks like my local legislators are on the me too bandwagon, passage looks 50:50 at this point.

http://www.glendalenewspress.com/news/tn-818-1219-in-wake-of-newtown-shooting-glendale-city-council-may-hear-proposal-to-ban-gun-shows,0,5920662.story

I had defended the GGS back in August.

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=610510

Is there a basis for an injunction against this or is it a case of city property city rules?

I will volunteer to be lead plaintiff if some 2ndA rights org want to take them on if this comes to pass.

Thanks.

I read the article too and emailed the mayor and council members (except Rafi Manoukian) to not support the ban on the glendale gun show. I think there's suppose to be a city council meeting on Jan. 22nd in regards to this as well.

On another note, there's a facebook site where it supports the ban on glendale gun shows. Makes me sick!

I've never been to the Glendale gun show, but I'm local and will support if you want another warm body.

I was in Glendale just today (somewhat rare for me).

PM me if you have specific plans.

The Glendale gun show bites. No selection and one of the smallest venues in gun show history. With all that venting done and out of the way we cannot give these bastards one inch so I am in with both feet to save the show! What do we need to do to save it?

It looks bad, there are lots of mails and editorials against it now, I don't hold out much hope.

On the other hand it does provide about 50K annually, so we shall see if logic prevails over emotion.

Whack jobs in the paper are debating gun shows and whether Kim Kardashian should ride on their New Year's Parade float.

Idiocracy at work.

Sad. Hopefully they don't ban the show being that it's the only local show for me.

Default We're gearing up!

I just wanted to let everyone know that the NRA is already working with those who operate the gun show to coordinate a strong response to this proposed action. The law firm of Michel & Associates, PC has been brought in to represent the gun show’s and gun owners’ interests in continuing the Glendale Gun Show.

The last time this same councilman proposed to ban the gun show in 2006, the NRA had Michel & Associates, PC submit a pre-litigation demand letter and scores of members attend the city council meeting, which actions resulted in the matter being removed from the agenda before even being discussed. The NRA intends to take similar action again.

I notice that several of you have pledged to volunteer to assist in fighting this attack on our liberty. We appreciate your support and I will likely be in touch with you all in the near future. Until then, please standby for further instructions. I will announce any actions you all can help with on this thread when the time comes, but not too early. Also, be sure to sign up for e-mail alerts from us by CLICKING HERE and entering your email address.

This might turn into quite a large effort and we will appreciate the efforts of all of you who wish to become involved. The only thing I'm asking of you at this point in time is to work with us in a coordinated manner so that we can maximize our effectiveness.

I will not go into detailed specifics, at this time, because it would only assist those who are against us and our efforts to protect the gun show in Glendale. As we all know, the anti-gun extremists and political opportunists who seek fame and political advancement (via the blood of our nation's children) read this and other web sites. I will not tell them our strategy and/or tactics in advance!

If you wish to be an active part of NRA's team in this effort:
Thanks in advance. This is promising to be a very challenging year!

Paul

Give them the smackdown Paul. This is the last show location in the heart of the beast.

The whole premise is very dumb. Its like closing liquor stores in Glendale because some drunk guy on the east coast drove DUI and ran over people.

The Rev. Griem of Montrose Community Church understands the situation:
Quote:
Rather than disarming, wringing our hands, instituting gun-show bans, and making it difficult for good citizens to protect themselves from mental cases with weaponry, it would be better if people were well armed and supported. I don't respect public servants who wrest freedoms and powers away from our people, especially for knee-jerk reactions to incidental cases of arms misuse.

The idea that without legal guns there'd be no gun massacres or mass destruction is absurd. As long as there are motor vehicles, gasoline, fire and sharp objects, there will always be blindsided moments of man's inhumanity. These all could facilitate lethal mayhem, but nobody legislates against such indispensables. Of course, lawless people will always have guns.

I'm a Glendale resident. I just got caught up reading the articles and editorials in the News-Press. I'm shaking my head at the lack of objectivity and just pure illogical arguments coming from our local journalists.

Also they setup a facebook page to support banning the gun show. I think I'm going to try and teach some common sense to anyone that will listen on their FB page.

Put me down on the list. I'm actually a Glendale resident and am not pleased that my city spending my tax money to stomp on my ability to exercise my 2nd amendment civil rights.

Thanks for all of the positive responses.

We are currently organizing our plans and will be in contact with you during the next couple of weeks.

I've heard all sorts of facts/figures related to the Glendale Gun Show and would like any assistance you can provide. If anyone has sourced data regarding this show, please send it to me so that I can give it to our researchers. You might have some information that we haven't found yet and it could be a great help to our efforts.

Thanks again.

Thanks Joe. I received your email and those of many others. I also have the NRA Members' Councils preparing for the issue of the Glendale Gun Show.

We have been successful gathering information and continue to do so. Planning and coordination is going well and we will soon kick-off our 2nd part of the strategy. The 1st part is already in process, but we won't discuss that in such an open venue.

Please remember that those who support banning guns, shows, sales, etc. are reading this and other forums and blogs, etc. and they really benefit when we inadvertently tell them what we are doing and how we are doing it. That's why the NRA doesn't operate that way. We will FIGHT HARD and carry-out our plans in a COORDINATED and EFFECEINT manner. Win or lose, we will remain pretty quiet about what we did and how we did it. We'll leave it to others to publicly claim credit and tell everyone how awesome THEY are.

Paul
