Default My Savage 10 Palma rifle is finally done.

Just got it all together today after getting the muzzle of the barrel turned to a constant diameter for the front sight.

Savage 10 Trophy Hunter XP, .308
Riles 22mm Front sight.
Centra rear sight.

(I received the front aperture after the photo was taken)

Very cool. When I hear "Palma Rifle", I automatically picture in my head something with a 30" barrel and heavy synthetic stock. Yours seems like you could actually carry it around for a bit

Maybe a 30" in the future, but for now, I have made do with the stock 24", though I had to have some machining work done to it to get that front sight fitted.

But the 30" is really just for extra velocity needed to stay supersonic out to 1000yds. I won't be shooting that far for some time, so this should do just fine. I need to learn how to shoot, and that will take some time.

You know, I've been messing around with guns for a good long time, and it takes something relatively unique to make me go "Oooooooh"

Well you did it with that rifle.

Any trigger work done yet? Who did the barrel turn down?

You need to put a bloop tube and 10" extension on that to get a nice long sight radius, 24" tube will get you out to 800-900 but you will lose too much velocity after that.

DAMMIT! Now I'm all horny for a Palma rifle. Need to find a place in the Bay Area that does a reduced Palma.

Whats this "reduced" talk?? Head over to Folsom and shoot the real thing. You'll never go back to plinking at the public range.

Thanks. I am still going ooh, here myself.

No trigger work done, I'll do that when I feel it's holding me back. I'm very new to rifle shooting.

The barrel was done at a local machine shop in Los Angeles. $60 to get the last two inches down to a constant diameter. The spacer was made custom by Riles to fit the sight's 0.750" and the new 0.560" muzzle.

Palma seems like the most challanging of all firearm sports / competitions. Nice Rifle!
