Default Scoped '03

Is this a good deal? Both rifles look correct to me.

Seems high to me. Not sure why the '03 says "never fired". Someone installed a recoil pad, probably after they fired it. The scope might add value, the the rifle has been D&Td, offsetting the scope value. My 2 cents.

It is a 1903-A3, not an '03.
Not to mention the diamond inlays over the stock reinforcement bolts. The scope mount is a commercial one, and the pad is pure bubba. Cant tell from the pics if the bolt is original A4, but the receiver is not. It is worth something, just not what they are asking.

M<aybe $750, but its not "Collectable" as is (bubba stock) , But the action/scope/metal is if you want to build a CMP sniper competition rifle with a replacement C stock.

I "might" go as high as $800 but it def not worth $1200 - IMHO

Do you have more info than the photo's posted. There is no way to tell how "correct" these are just from the photos.

The Garand may be a good deal or may be $200 overpriced, depending on the breakdown of parts and barrel date and condition.

The 03 or 03a3 just doesn't give enough info to give an opinion. It could be a good value, but you just can't tell from the photos.

Ehh...$400 rifle with a $300 scope, and a lot of unanswered questions...bore condition, etc.

Question is, what would you do with it? If you want a rifle for the the CMP vintage sniper match, you can do better for less.

I liked the evenly worn finish on both rifles. The parts may not be original to the rifles, but they have been together for a while. I didn't know it was a commercial mount.

The stock has issues but it would look nice next to my MM bolt bring back byf K98 that had a recoil pad installed and stock cut off at the barrel band. The stock matches every part but the bolt, darn it. While thinking about why anyone would do that to their trophy, I actually liked the idea of a WW2 vet, back home, tinkering in the garage on his battle field pick-up that would soon be accompaning him on a deer hunt. It's americana art work!

By the looks of the quality work, I'd say more like "shed-made" than home made

Hold on guys, beneath that exterior is the making of a good cmp sniper or military silhouette rifle for local competitions.

We all have the ability to clean her up for compitition even if it has a grungy bore.

I agree, Frank, but...not for $1200, which is what the seller is asking for it. Alaskan scopes have gotten pretty pricey due to the 03A4 rebuild craze, but I stand by my original statement...$400 rifle with a $300 scope.
