it was a MADHOUSE there today! Cheapest .223 reloads I found from Wholesale Ammo and LAX ammo were $179 per 500 rounds. If you go up to 1,000 rounds, Surefire mfg had them for $330 but I'm sure they were all gone by noon.

As far as factory new .223, think they were going for around $220 for 500 rounds.

This is all before tax. If you pay with cash, you might get away with paying tax at other vendors besides LAX Ammo.

AmmoBros didn't even have any .223s.

As far as 7.62x39, the cheapest was Wolf at ~$223 for 1,000.

So... I'd say don't bother going since all the prices are jacked up for this post election/holiday show.

Unfortunately, I have to go back tomorrow because I got charged for 1,000 of 9mm when I only bought 500. In the rush and crowd, I forgot to double check the amount charged. =/ I might be out of luck but will see if they'll give me back the difference.

I thought I was the only one thinking prices were a little tough. Absolutely no 7.62x51 at all. It appeared to be twice as busy as the last show in Del Mar. I think I will just be staying home from now on and order when available.

I watched the Miwall reloads steadily go up almost 5-10$ each gun show for the past year or so. I sat out the last two because the value just wasn't there anymore. I'll go back to buying mine online.

I remember paying $155 for 1000 rds of 9mm and $85 for 200 rds of .308...

Prices:
- 223: $150/500 or $300/1000 for Wolf, $175/500 for brass reloads, $200/500 for new brass. Some scattered Tula, Brown Bear and Silver Bear for slightly more than the Wolf.
- 7.62x39: Maybe $220/1000, see prev posts.) Not bad compared to the 223.
- 5.45x39: $160/can (1080 rounds?) Still not bad despite the rumors of 5.45 ending as the cheap & fast round.

I posted a deal here where you can get Wolf for $250/1000 with free shipping (slightly less if you have a C&R license):
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=654034

So don't go to the show expecting to save on ammo, online is still better although even the online sources are drying up. Ammoengine.com showed absolutely nothing, I had better luck with ammoseek.com and slickguns.com

Reloading components are still worth getting @ the show, you at least break even when you consider the hazmat fee when ordering online.

I went to the gun show yesterday. I got there about 1030. I dont know about .223 and 7.62. I did get 500 9mm reloads from LAX for $100 and a buddy bought 250 .357 mag new for $130. However it was a MADHOUSE, the place was packed so i doubt there is much ammo left. I know ammo bros was out of .223 and 9mm already when i was there. Owe and had to pay the $9 parking to park in the dirt lot on the other side of jimmy durante blvd and hike in which sucked.

Gun shows are certainly not what they used to be. Organizers are out to maximize profits by charging ever increasing admission and parking prices, which negate any savings you'd make on ammo and other purchases. I haven't gone to a show in a couple of years and have no plans to ever go again.

Where I can get decent prices, I prefer to support local gun shops or shop the internet. You get what you want without having to stand in long lines, battle the crowds and hike in from the parking lot 1/2 a mile away.

Miwall has been steadily raising their ammo prices all year. The only thing I'm still interested in them for is the Yugo milsurp 7.62x39, only because they still have some and it's cheaper than PRVI. But it's gone up to $80 for 200rds which is hardly a bargain. It was $60 in the spring...

I agree with Dutch Henry - I was at the most recent Costa Mesa ($$ parking plus $15 admission) & Ontario ($10) shows. Crossroads is morphing into a big swap meet for dummies who don't know what stuff is or costs. Many vendors are selling crap accessories or decent stuff at or in excess of retail / I'm going back to shopping for more online.

It's really a shame that Miwall is doing that. They've been my steady go-to every gun show for over a year. I've bought a couple thousand rounds from them between 9mm, 45, 223 and 308, but they're just not worth it anymore. I'm taking my money (and my patient time...) to Freedom Munitions for my plinker ammo now.

Don't know if they still have any but I picked up 500 rounds of .223 at TDS Guns in Bonita for $179. You might give them a call.
