Default Machinist in SoCal looking for some new projects

Hey guys!

My name is Alex. I am located in Monrovia California. I am a full time aerospace machinist, and also have a full machine shop at home. I have made just about everything from custom gun parts, to custom car parts, to one off classified satellite and aircraft parts. I work full time at a shop in Pasadena, but i love doing side projects, and actually have a couple parts for the early ford focus that i produce on a small scale.

i am constantly looking for new projects and ideas to turn into reality, and would love to share my skill with you.

LATHES:
I have one small lathe setup for 5c collets, one medium lathe with a 6" chuck, and access to two large lathes with up to a 6' bed.

MILLING MACHINES:
I have a vertical milling machine with autofeed capability, collet stop, and a small and large dividing head.

I have a facebook page that shows some of my stuff, and i am building it as i can. Visit it and like it! Facebook.com/alexthemachinist

You can contact me via:

Email - Alexthemachinist@gmail.com

Phone/Text - (626) 203-2058

Here are a few examples of some of my work.

Benelli M1 - Titanium oversided charging handle. WAY larger than factory and weighs less.

Delrin and aluminum Steering rack bushings for 2000-2007 Ford focus.

Aluminum shifter linkage end, with two piece delrin bushing for 2000-2.5 Focus

Throttle body flange for custom intake manifold with relief for IAC valve

Intake runner flange for custom intake manifold manifold, all runner ports had 3/8" radius milled into them.

Custom intake manifold

R/C car tire durometer (Designed by my father)

Jig for converting a four bolt wheel hub to five bolt, and an example piece

How about a Colt LE901 (308) charge handle fitted with BCM latches in BCM fashion (over size or ambi OS CH, the latter more desirable) is this something you might do, as I would like to have one, and sure they're are others out their w/the same problem as myself. (I have seen on other forums)

They just don't make these, (they are a little shorter in length may be 1/4in or more, & have two small guild tab on one side if I remember correctly).

To simplify the operation, I could send you a new Colt CH, and BCM parts to be fitted...from there you could make a jig or something to make them from scratch.

PM me if truly interested...could be a small niche (or bigger) for you...

Awesome, cad drawing with dimensions work a hell of a better than "make this thing fit on this thing... Go"

Wow nice skills OP!

I may also need a couple custom car parts done down the line... I'll see if I can get someone to draw it up on CAD as well before-hand.

Just wondering... I know you're more into technical machining but do you also do such things as custom roll cages? Or is that something completly different.

That is actually something I need to get some more practice on. The hardest part is the bends. My father and I custom made the cage for his rampage but it's kinda primitive. I just need the right bender. I've got the mig welding down though. We've got a nice big Lincoln mig welder that puts out beautiful welds.

What class do you need the cage for? I might be looking into the stuff, because I need to make a close fit cage for my 67 Mini Cooper before I put her back on the road.
