Default How to increase the cap of an AK mag?

I have three of these 5 rounders and I want to increase their capacity to 10 rounds.

Is there a different follower I can get or do I have to get a different body or just modify the follower?

Anyone familiar with them? They are 5 round 7.62x39 mags and I got them with my Norinco MAK-90 (AK variant).

I thought that I can swap out the follower from my thirty rounders and make them 25 rounders maybe but they seem to have the same follower. Am I SOL? I want some metal 10 rounders for my ak pistol that I made... That tapco crap aint cutting it...

Get the shorter followers. They should be everywhere and cheap.
But keep the long ones you have now.

Damn why didn't I think of that? They even SAY they are for 5 round metal mags...

Thanks!

JFC RSA has them but they are 10.50 and 8 for shipping...

Maybe I should pick up some more for all of my 30 round mags too and see if I can get 35 rounds out of them...

You can chop off the bottom of the follower to get to the 10 round capacity you seek. Take the magazine apart, hold the follower in place with your finger, load to 10 rounds. Scribe/scratch a line on all sides that stick out of the magazine body. Chop off with hack saw and clean up with a file. Done. Make sure to cut slightly more than is needed, so you can comfortably compress the stack 1mm or so to load the last cartridge, but not so much that an 11th cartridge can be crammed in. Go slow and check frequently.

Using a shorter follower is not the best idea in longer magazines. The longer spring wants to bend out of the way as opposed to compress and the longer follower helps to ensure that the spring doesn't bind on the follower in it's downward travel.
