Thumbs up IL: Chicago Trib, "House passes gun bill over Quinn, Emanuel objections"

"But the gun bill backed by House Speaker Michael Madigan goes to a Senate where President John Cullerton has denounced the proposal because it would override local gun laws like Chicago’s assault weapons ban."

"The House passed the bill 85-30, with one lawmaker voting present."

"Quinn quickly issued a statement vowing to block passage in the Senate."

Looming in the background is the June 9th deadline to pass some sort of Carry legislation. The legislature's session ends next Friday and they still have to deal w/a $100B pension debt....

It would be good for the people of IL if this turns out to be a positive change in their government.

I rather doubt that will turn out to be the case.

The day a certain river gets turned around - only then will Chicago turn around.

Chicago and Illinois have been the way the are for over a hundred years...

I'm expecting this to get uglier and end up in the SCOTUS...
