Default Los gatos gunshop editorial.

Just thought you guys would like to see this. The business isn't even open yet, has no firearms on premise.

UPDATE:

Good to see that they've got a second article up after getting things clarified and corrected.

Was going to post in comments with my FB but they require you to use their stupid patch app. Screw that.

Anyway being in Los Gatos I'm sure ammo prices are going to suck!

Some of those comments are absolutely pathetic.

Check cashing and bail bonds in Los Gatos? Now that's a dumb idea.

I look forward to having another local gun shop option.

I'm going to have to check it out.

We should remain vigilant and support the owners if we can.

Hopefully it will be a nice shop.

I for one hope they succeed over there. It would be utter Bolshevik if the city shut them down.

That's right down the street from Los Gatos Meat Co.

Awesome - a gun shop within smell of BBQ and jerky!

(BTW if anyone has wild game to process, I recommend their jerky...).

"Aside from feeling guns are a negative influence on our society and tend to foster violence (at least from what I see daily in our wonderful news outlets)"

Well they see it in the news. It must be factual and accurate. The news would never sensationalize anything....unless it involves guns, pit bulls, shark attacks....

Whoa! A gun store? In MY Los Gatos?

THIS. CHANGES. EVERYTHING!

Now I have even *more* reasons to go visit my Mom in LG! YAY!

The writer wanted to know what kinds of "weapons" would be sold:

Quote:

Mr. Wiese, no libel here ... readers are wondering what kinds of weapons will be sold at this business. We're not saying these types of firearms will be sold. The purpose of this article was just to inform the community that a gun shop is opening there and that the residents are worried for reasons stated in the story. Thanks for reading.
"Weapons"?

How about "legal Second Amendment protected firearms"?

I'm grateful Bill is miring through that nonsense at least.

I *was* going to say that I'll bet the majority of those posts are from 'new Los Gatos' residents. People forget that Los Gatos used to be a relatively rural little town. Heck I remember when the (now long gone) sporting goods store at Broadway and South Santa Cruz Ave in downtown LG used to sell guns. No body had a problem with it back then as I recall.
But that was 'Los Gatos', not the current 'Lo$ Gato$'.

We've GOT to think of the children, people! My god there are schools near that location! Why oh why can't they open a puppy-and-rainbow store there instead?

They get a few more home invasions in LG folks might be more in support of firearms when they realize their small PD and the area it patrols mean less-than-ideal response time if you need the police in mere seconds.

Yep... IIRC, Mike Wasserman comes to mind.

LG = a tad older, moneyed population.

Cupertino = newer go-go population, more rapid R.E., turnover, high percentage immigrants. Major political concern is local school quality - which is why people pay $1mil even TODAY (prices did not really drop in recession) for a 3br/2ba rancher in Cupertino wholly aside from other pleasant/convenient attributes.

[I recall Cupertino ran out a Creationist HS public school teacher a few years ago - and I think this had something to do with no more Reeps in Silicon Valley when some local GOP shills tried to support the dude.]

Chainsaw,

Haha.

I believe a certain rusty Suburban from the LG hills with a FN license plate will be around.

Given that the Los Gatos PD is rather well funded, I would bet that the number of officers per unit area is high, probably comparable to nearby cities or better. In addition, the town is easy to reach with major thoroughfares, so response time is probably exceptionally good.

Saratoga is a different situation, as it doesn't have its own PD, but instead uses the county sheriff, and has to share those officers with the large unincorporated area.

Driving around Los Gatos there's lots of streets, it's not that easy to get around, granted the police know the city, but it will still take them time to get around town and there just aren't that many of them. I grew up in a town not much larger than LG and with about the same amount of police. Response times will vary depending on timing, location, and anything else that might be going on.

Remember "when seconds count the police are only minutes away"

Nice counter comments, guys!

I surprised at that one female commentor thinking only men, and NRA members, are the only ones who handle firearms. It was great to have a female rebut her.

Sounds like a teachable moment.

Regrettably, I forsee a city council or planning commission meeting in their future with LCAV in attendance.

...any takers on that bet?

This could be expensive for me... I drive right through LG on the way home. Can't wait to check out the new shop.

i think we'd need to know the name of the shop and when it will be open before we could plan a date and time.
