that's very nice. I remember I had to buy my own guns when I turned of the age to be able to legally purchase them.
you are a very cool Dad indeed...
unless this is some kind of elaborate ploy to buy yourself a nice rifle. you know, if you haven't met a woman yet, not engaged and your kid has not been born yet.
Then it's not so cool, it's genius.

very nice. reminds me of when I got my first rifle on my 8th birthday, a Winchester 22. I'm sure your son will appreciate it and become a responsible steward of it.

My DAD had a JC Higgins 30-06 with a FN action. He gave it to me when I returned from Viet Nam. My son is a Deputy Sheriff and 36 yrs old and I gave him the gun. He has a Son that is two years old and I am sure the rifle will make it to him.

I will never own a gun that means as much to me as that old 06.

Good Job DAD

Respectfully,
Bill

Thank you for sharing, THIS^ is what being a responsible and family oriented gun owner is all about.

My first gun was bought for me at 4, it was a ruger 10/22 that i still own today and will never get rid of it. When I have kids, I will buy each of them their own as well.

It is not just the rifle that means a lot... every time I pull it out, I remember the father and son days on our family ranch... the lessons learned by my father, the stories... What being a REAL man means. At the end of the day it is just wood and steel, but it is the memories that it rekindles that matter.

OP, I'm sure your son will love his rifle, make sure you take time to make some memories with it as well!
