Default Looking for a Saiga

Hi Everybody,

I'm trying to find a Saiga in 7.62x39 for sale somewhere in or near the Bay Area. I've had one on back order from a shop in Mountain View since June, but I haven't gotten the happy phone call yet.

I want the 16" barrel, unconverted (I plan to do it myself), hopefully for something less than $600 out the door.

I've called all the local stores that I know of, no one has them or can even give me any idea of when they expect them.

I'm willing to drive a couple hours if necessary, or have it shipped from out of state to a local FFL, if anyone has them in stock/will ship to CA.

Anyone know where I can find one or two of these? Thanks in advance!

You are going to be hard pressed to find one right now as it seems they are in between shipments, which means stock is low, prices high, and demand strong.

I would wait, or find one used.

Either know exactly what you want and start stocking up on what you need (conversion parts, ammo, optics, etc) or get a parts kit and join a build party. Other than that, it's kind of a waiting game.

Thanks. Those darn commies can't crank their wonderful guns out fast enough. I'm sitting tight for now, but I'm starting to get impatient.

I've seen what you're looking for at guns fishing and other stuff in vacaville, river city gun exchange in sacramento, Peninsula guns in san bruno, city arms in pacifica, gun vault in mountain view...

I was in Guns, Fishing, and Other stuff a couple months ago, the salesguy had never heard of a Saiga. I just called, and I think they hung up on me.
EDIT: I called again, he has converted x39s and a .223, but no standard x39. He claims he will have them in stock soon, but I've heard that song before.

I called River City a couple hours ago, he claims to be a distributor. He has none in stock, but will call around Monday to see if he can't find any.

I just called peninsula guns, none of the x39 in stock, no ETA. They offered me a WASR10 and an m10, but both of those are a bit over my budget.

City arms I also called a few hours ago, they're expecting a mixed shipment of various flavors of Saiga on Tuesday, possibly including what I'm looking for. That's my best lead at the moment.

Gun vault is where I've had my $100 deposit sitting since June. Gary was able to get 1 in, but I was second on his list so it went to my brother. Shooting his only makes me want mine more!

WOW.... they must be really flyin off the shelves. I was just at GFAOS yesterday and RCGE. didn't really ask what cal they had but i always look for the AK section in gun shops first and then look at the mags.

GFAOS usually has crappy service over the phone, and in person. I will say there are 2 really good and cool workers there that aren't jacka$5

Yesterday I heard a manager of some sort say to another worker in the camo section, "I want all this bull**** out of here. move it to the back. Take all this s**t and get it out of here. I don't want to see this pile of s**t in an hour"

That's what I found when I went in, as well. I was asking about a $500 Saiga, and he tried his best to sell me a $1700 Remington varmint ar. Not really in the same category. The old dude I just talked to was nice enough, but not terribly helpful. He said they'd ordered them and they'd be in soon, but couldn't tell me when. He wouldn't take my number to call me, either.

Are they really going for $600 OTD? Or is that converted? (I'm talking 7.62x39).

I think I paid $400 OTD 1 1/2 years ago and they were kinda hard to find. That's when they were going from RAA to another brand (that sporsterized them) and started stamping out the RAA name..... I got an RAA

I know the guys at gun vault, and I'm trying to buy a couple, so Gary is giving me what he says is a good deal ($523 OTD). From what I've heard from other dealers in the area, that's about the going rate. Alas, nobody has them. So if I can find one for $600 (yes, unconverted, 7.62x39), I'm going to jump on it with both feet.

I'd agree with you after owning one. I bought mine on a whim and just got lucky. Good luck!

I've got 2. Both unconverted. Bought 1st one about 2 yrs ago. Recent one (haven't even shot it yet), bought it a yr ago. Both were about $420-470(OTD price, includes cable lock). I purchased from Atlantic firearms and Arms of America.

Not too surprised these went up in price, they go fast! Pick one up ASAP. $500 is good local price. I've seen some LGS trying to sell them for $600-up.

Are you sure they have them right now? I called this morning and the guy said they didn't have them. If they do, I'll gladly drive 3 hours up there tomorrow.

Wow I picked my unconverted saiga in 7.62x39 for $420 plus taxes and fees at rifle gear around late July I cant believe how much they are selling for now. Any mine too came with a crooked stock and sights that were off target, but I bought an ak sight tool and fixed the sight issue and RAA sent me another stock but I am too lazy to install it and am looking for a 922r compliant "sporter" stock to replace the russian made one. Threy are great rifles I have put over 500 rounds threw mine and it has yet to jam or mis feed.

Frankh7, do you mind me asking where? Are you located anywhere in northern California? Heck, at this point, anywhere in the northern hemisphere?

Bump.

Still looking. I have a lead on a couple, but no one can put a rifle in my hands yet. Does anybody know of a store anywhere in CA that has these currently in stock today?
