Just got an AR pistol buffer tube from Blackthorn, my question is that it looks like an A2 stock tube on the end that could accept an A2 stock. Will this be a legal problem in pistol configuration? Thanks

No problems with legality.
You'd have to have the back end tapped for a screw, and a stock to fit the tube, in order to have an NFA constructive possession issue.

If you don't have a stock for a mil-spec tube, you can use a standard mil-spec stock tube on a pistol. I wouldn't reccommend that, though. Removing any threads inside the tube - or putting a small screw in them - will solve your problem. In fact, as you have the foam on the stock, you don't even need to do that if the foam is glued.

OK, so the A2 tube is much longer, but the ends look pretty much the same, and hole and threads are the same. Am I GTG on a pistol build with this?

That is a stock tube designed for the shorty A2 stock or the "Entry fixed stock". On an A2 tube there is no mil spec/com spec.

No you are not ok. If your AR pistol buffer tube is CAPABLE of accepting a stock you are in violation. Does not matter if you have the stock or not. In this case the buffer tube is capable of accepting a shorty A2 stock so I would not use it. Its not worth risking a felony over.

I believe the earlier poster is right in that what you have there is an entry length receiver extension tube. ACE sells those as pistol buffer tubes with the foam sleeve. If you're worried about it, just drill out the threads and cover the whole tube with one of our dipped rubber covers, which will cover the back end of the tube as well and not draw as much attention. Measure the outside diameter to be sure but it should fit one of our 0.94" rubber covers and you will not need to glue it on because once it is installed on the tube the only way you are getting it off is by destroying the cover.
