Default Annual PRG USPSA Classifier match

Just a heads up.
PRG will be having a classifier match in January.
Exact date to be determined but it will be on a Sunday. Most likely 1/20/2013
6 classifier stages to get your initial classification or to improve your current standing.
Last year we had quite a few shooters show up to get classified.
There were a few bottle necks on the bays with 2 stages.
We are hoping to have one stage per bay to keep things flowing.
The only bay we can't do much about is the rifle bay. That one will always have two stages.
As for the stages, we'll try to have ones that are not used often (space and prop availabilty permitting of course)
Entry fee will be $40 for your first division, $10 for additional divisions.

We'll update this topic as more information becomes available.

Just a reminder for those that are not USPSA members:
You don't have to be a USPSA member to shoot the classifier match. If you enjoyed your self at the classifier match and feel you want to have a classification (GM, M, A, B, C or D) sign up with USPSA online and get a member number. Your scores are kept on file and will be applied to the member number you are assigned.

Just remember to use the exact name you used during sign up (please write legibly) when applying for USPSA membership.

A regular annual membership is $40. Membership without the magazine subscription is $25.

You should always bring 250 rounds to a USPSA match. There may be a reshoot if there is a stage failure, ie, popper does not activate a swinger or drop turner, and because steel usually takes more rounds to run the stage.

Pala runs USPSA matches also.

I think 150 is the bare minimum for matches held at PRG and NRG.
You could get away with 150 but thats hoping there are no reshoots and/or you go one for one on steel and no make up shots on paper.

To clarify, I agree with others on the recommendation of 250 round minimum. However, for THIS match with six classifiers, you'll use a lot less. Most classifiers have less than 20 rounds, so your 150 would be fine. But always better safe than sorry.

Lester,
Just for you, we'll pick 6 fixed time classifier stages that have 24 rounds each to complete. 144 rounds total.
We'll see if your 150 rounds will be enough

If I want to get classified in more than one division, does that mean I will run the stage again with a different gun?

Yes. As an example, you can use a revolver to classify for all divisions except Single stack as long as your holster and speed loaders are in the correct position for each division. You may not get a stellar score but its enough to get you classified and out of the dreaded "U" classification.

Your production gun can be used to classify for open, limited, limited 10 and production though your scoring will be "minor" for all divisions due to the normal velocities of production rounds.

Talk to us and we can help you get classified in however many divisions you like.

Can you point a newbie in the right direction for information about what all this means? I've wanted to try out competitive shooting for some time and 1/20 works for me! Anything more than I've found at www.uspsa.org/
Using a G34 with no modifications, have a holster & mags.

Thank you!

How does PRG run it's matches? Is it go at your own pace or squads? Should you show up with a group so you can shoot with your buddies?

For those that haven't shot at Prado before, it is preferred you squad with shooters who are regulars of PRG. There are safety rules and procedures that are specific to Prado Olympic Shooting Park which a veteran shooter can inform you about.
If a member of your group has shot at PRG on numerous occasions, you are more than welcome to form your own squad.
