Having re-read The Mute's post, I think he read this thread the most correctly. Some folks are just waiting to take offense at something, even if it's perceived. Whether it's The Virus's proposal about schools mandating some type of background check for firearms training or my invitation to come shoot at a match or training class where you can find us (me and the Virus) before making a character judgment. The internet can be a terrible medium for deducing intent.

Fine, then when you open your school, you can run it that way. The folks who run Gunsite (as well as the folks who run some other schools/classes) do it their way.

But they don't have a right to attend any particular privately run school.

What I find strange is that these training schools, that are so concerned about training criminals (and require some type of background check) will sell a training DVD to anyone....

You're missing the point. When you open your own school you can make that YOUR school's requirement for attending.

all citizens have a right to self-defense.
That's funny. As far as I can tell, even if you don't get that background check you can still own a gun and defend yourself. How about that?

I think that provides a pretty good indicator of how much you can learn about gunfighting techniques from watching a DVD
