Default Zeroing Docter red dot on Ruger 22/45

Last week I mounted the red dot and 1911 grips to my 22/45. I went and shot it and was depressed by the results. I was shooting 4 1/4 inches low at 10 yards. Tight but low.
So I came home and put it in the safe. Yesterday I pulled it out and decided to try to re-zero the dot. I took the pistol down to parade rest. With the dot still mounted I clamped the barrel into a vice I use to make holsters. By looking down the bore at a 1 inch round spot 30 feet away I was able to adjust my dot a lot closer. Still needs some fine tuning but I'm a lot happier now. I just need to practice and bring them in closer to bulls eye.

Here are the results, 5 shots per target (2 inch rounds) 10 yards 2 handed hold. Top right and lower left targets really made me smile

Nice shooting on all four actually. The ones out of the group could just be a variation in the ammo or, heaven forbid, a little bit of a pull. If I could shoot a group like any of yours I would be very, very pleased.

Thanks Izzy, I consider that high praise from you.
I'm hoping to get the 15 yrd match done this month but holster orders are keeping me in the garage. I'm off next friday after Thanksgiving hopefully I can get it in then.

What kind of mount are you using? Ensure that the sight is secured and the mounting screws are tight. If you make sight adjustments, remember the sight locking screws need to be also tightened. At the distance you are at,the flyers in your groupings looks like the L/R screw could be loose.
