Default Wouldn't I know about a 40508A VC?

So I went to get a 10 year DMV printout for an adoption process yesterday and I see several violations all on one day, all past 10 years. The conviction dates were 08-14-01. I had no clue what the VCs were so I looked them up and see that two are for failure to appear. A 40508A and 405095 and the bogus ticket I did remember getting once I looked it up was a 21706, following too close.

What I want to know is, wouldn't I know about a failure to appear? I've been pulled over since then and renewed my license twice since then, with no issues. I also was hired with the LAPD in 2004 (I quit before starting the academy due to much pleading from my wife to find another career path) and went through the hiring process with BPD and this was never brought up or on my record then.

So how is this now magically on my record 11 years after it allegedly took place? What am I missing?

It could easily have been misidentified to you from another person. Could be that they never sent the notice. Do you recall getting the ticket?

Yeah I got the ticket and paid the fine, which is why it's weird to me.

There was a thread about two months ago with a telephone number you could call and DMV and get a lot of that stuff removed. Most of the comments were positive on the process. I will look around later to see if I can find it.

Found it. Good luck. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...v+phone+number

I have regular deep background investigations for work and something always seems to turn up that has nothing to do with me. I've had some really weird stuff show up in my records over the years.

DMV ain't the only one... when we run applicant's fingerprints, we get DOJ conviction records that sometimes get placed there from other people's records... it's actually quite disturbing how many I have seen... I would say maybe on average one or two a year... which is one or two a year too many if you have a criminal record that doesn't belong to you.
