Default 22 mares leg, pirate pistol, pseudo charger project

Yesterday I started a little project.
I had this 10-22 birch stock sitting around, so I got busy on it.
Not sure what finish I'll put on it.

Just a question, don't rifles need to be over 26" ?

You mean like the OP's appears to be? Yes, they do need to be 26".

edit: Although I was never particularly fond of the ruger charger(never saw much point in a pistol that needs a rest), making what is an essentially oversized charger is interesting.

iirc 10/22 standard barrel is 20" and the receiver 6.5", plus looks to be a few extra on the "Grip". Nice angles on that.

just checked my 10/22 and it has an 18" barrel and it is at 28" to the grip, so yep it looks to be GTG.

Just looked short in the picture.

The barrel is 16 1/4" threaded, I could put a flash hider or something on there to go longer or to give it a more tacticool look.

Thanks
The angles I chose are from a Japanese knife style I like and it helps match the receiver better.

The purpose of this stock mod is, It's for my 10 year old daughter, the length of pull was too long with the factory stock and the rifle was too heavy, so I wanted to make it light as possible for her.

I was going to put a small scope on it but the Red Dot weighs less and sits lower and she can get a cheek weld at the top of the grip.

Interesting.

An amusing diversion from the standard faire.

I like it!

Done shaping the pistol stock.
I stained it but should have pre conditioned the birch, I'm not liking the stain.
It's all good though because my girl wants me to paint it black.

Nice, if you have a ton of time, maybe some wood burning, and make some cool and useful designs/grip textured areas.

I would like to get some good checkering tools and learn how to do it.
This stock is pretty much done with the exception of some sling swivels.

Promise - I didn't copy you. Did this a couple of years ago when I was bored on a rainy day. Put a compact 16" barrel on it. Still legal in length.

Maybe we should start a pseudo charger thread.

For some reason, don't ask me why, I'm calling mine the 10/22 "pirate pistol".
