Yeah, I'm getting antsy now.
Not sure if they're still available but there were some in the Quentin Defense GB thread. Else I saw someone doing a pay-it-foward type thing with jigs in the Gunsmith thread. Might jump in on that one myself. Last edited by DBoulant; 01-09-2013 at 5:48 PM.. |

I just got back from Ares. What a great experience. I arrived at the location at 9:45 am, before they opened at 11:00 am, and I was first in line. Had a great time visiting with the others in line, the guy behind me was a calgunner, too. When they opened, there were 10-15 people waiting. The machinist said that since they are now doing cnc's 7 days a week, the crowds haven't been too bad. He said the most he had done in one day was 125 lowers. The machine was fast, maybe 6 minutes or so. He did a great job de-burring my completed build lowers. $65, which I thought was very fair, since some places are starting to gouge and charge $100-$105 per lower. I was doing two, so it made a difference. The machinist recognized mine as a Rohg lower when he was doing measurements at the end to confirm it was all correct, and the Rohg lower is a tiny bit thinner on some dimension.
Many thanks to Rogh, for producing the 80% and supplying them to us during this difficult time, and to Ares for doing a great job showing me how to CNC them out for the complete build. Now I just have to wait for a few more parts to come in over the next day or two, and then I can start a new thread showing the complete build... Last edited by doug5551; 01-09-2013 at 7:54 PM.. |

doug, I'm sure in your post above you are saying thanks to Ares for coordinating the use of the equipment for you to machine your lower right? I am sure Ares does not machine them for anyone as that would be against the law.
Just a lil FYI... |

All ares did was rent me the machine, teach me how to do it myself, and deburr, all of which is OK. Sorry for the confusion and my misstatement above. Thanks for reminding me to clarify. |

I just talked to them. Their most recent shipment was delayed. Its en route now and may arrive today. If it arrives today then 80%'s on backorder will start going out again as soon as Friday. If the forgings arrive tomorrow then everything ships Monday. I ordered January 3 and paid Jan 4 and was told this definitely applies to my order.
Also noted that the credit card I gave them hasn't been charged yet and was told they don't charge until product ships. so... there's your update :-) edit: Guys you have to expect that given circumstances they are not on this or any other forum with any degree of regularity. Do it the old fashioned way: use the telephone. |

I placed my order 12/30/12, my debit card was charged 1/2/13 I got an email on 1/7/13 saying my order is scheduled to ship today 1/11/13. They definitely charged me before mine shipped. I'm not to worried yet. If I don't get a tracking number today I'll call them on Monday and see what's going on.

Thanks for posting this. I just called and added an anno to my order. And yes they still have a few in stock. WAY easier to pay an extra $15 for an anodized lower than building a paint booth in a spare bedroom so I can duracoat a plain one in cold weather.

Milling out the fire control cavity, pin and selector holes and trigger slot. Hardest part would probably finding a lower parts kit for a reasonable price

The ano'd lower I ordered yesterday shipped same-day ... but destination addr was missing my office suite number. Saw that this morning and shot them a phone message. They just called me (its 11am on a Saturday) and told me they were able to get the suite number added.
I've had nothing but good service from these people. Last edited by MingTheMerciless; 01-12-2013 at 2:04 PM.. |

Receive my two today. The quality isn't as good as TM's 80%.On one of the ROGH I received today, the bolt-catch is deeper than the other. I hope this isn't a issue whenever I get a LPK in it. Some ruff edges, but that cat be fixed.

I'm with you x231 i ordered on dec. 30th and have been told "I had there word" that they would ship last wed. when previously they were supposed to have been shipped the Fri. before. The funnier thing is that last Fri. I emailed them and talk to them on the phone and on the phone Greg told me it was on his desk in a box ready to be shipped but overlooked and in the email he said they were expecting a delayed shipment and AS SOON AS IT ARRIVED they would be shipping through the weekend to catch up orders. I not sure what to bellieve anymore? but I will be contacting them again today to request my $982 dollars be refunded unless they can get me a tracking today......

Turns out the one I received was not the anodized unit. It was the plain one. And the LPK I added wasn't there. Couldn't tell which order they filled as it was just a lower in an otherwise empty box.
Guys check your magazine wells. Mine has the problem being discussed in the NorCal build threads: Mag doesn't drop free. I haven't mic'd it but you can eyeball it and see slightly uneven machining depth/wall thickness inside the well. Magazine goes in and out and its fairly easy to see the polish marks left by the mag on the well, and aluminum residue on the mag itself (I am using pmags), which you use to decide where to do your filing. Some time with a file last night took off about half the problem. If this was an anodized lower I'd be filing off the anodization so can't say I'm unhappy they seem to have forgotten to ship that one or charge me for it.
