Default Today I removed by BB...

After finally finding four old 30 round USGI mags in a box of crap in my attic, I decided a featureless build might be right up my alley... It looks pretty badass I think. Sorry for the iphone pix...

Isn't a bayonet lug on a featureless build a no-no or am I mistaken?

Nice build though! Definitely done right. I've never owned one and don't know if I would ever build one, but the dissipator style has always had an appealing look to me.

BTW - That was an honest question. I know that they were a no-no during the federal ban, but I'm honestly not sure about CA.

A bayonet lug is not a feature in California.

Quote:
If a rifle has none of the prohibited features (pistol grip, telescoping or folding stock, flash hider, grenade/flare launcher, forward pistol grip), the rifle may be used with legally owned large-capacity magazines that were in possession in the state of California PRIOR to January 1, 2000. Again, a bayonet lug is not a prohibited feature as noted above.

I don't understand what the grip wraps do for the rifle. Seen them before but substitute grip wrap for the pistol grip??? Please educate me.

Pistol grip = evil feature, pistol grip with a wrap = non evil feature

Pistol grip - 10 round castrated magazines
Grip wrap - normal magazines

I would be careful. A flash hider/suppressor is an assault weapon feature. That looks like one to me, so it might look like one to a cop and a judge. Same with the modified pistol grip. It still looks like a pistol grip to me; just one wrapped in plastic.

Flash hiders have ports for the burning gasses to escape thereby decreasing the flash from the muzzle. That doesn't look like a hider to me. The wrap prevents you from putting your thumb around the grip therefore it's no longer a pistol grip.

Luckily, your opinion doesn't matter one bit.

Flash Hiders and Muzzle brakes are determined by their design and how the manufacturer identifies the device.

And that "grip wrapped in plastic" is also good to go. To makes it impossible to use the pistol grip as a pistol grip.

It's not a flash hider and it's not a pistol grip. Try again. Or educate yourself. CGN has a lot of info on this subject.

Yep, Matech. You can often find them for $40 from sellers here and on arf.com

Matech sights are awesome, especially with Aimpoints or EoTechs. They block very little of your field of vision. I love mine and they're fast to adjust to range.
