Checked ebenefits today it went from Pending decision approval to complete. No forms no notification. I guess I have to wait for snail mail to deliver my letter. It's done (I hope) but cant they at least tell me a number? Not a patient person I've been out 1 year and one month.

So here's the deal I could not get a babysitter for my sciatic nerve appt EGR or something like that poke me with needles and zap me with electricity, so I rescheduled for 2 months later. They told me everything was rejected because I missed my appt that I rescheduled. Total BS they haven't even commented on sleep apnea, or looked to see if I rescheduled. Time to go to DAV and see if they can unscrew this up. Nightmare bureaucratic non-sense.

I usually skip the appeal and just refile. It is quicker and your not waiting forever (as va time goes )

Here is my experience, I separated in Sept. 2005. I did not plan on filing a claim until a classmate told me that if I had any service connected disability to claim it. It's a little bit of money to offset the cost of meds and exams. I decided to pursue this and sent in an application into the Los Angeles Veteran Affairs Office somewhere in March or April of 2013. I was contacted last week by a 3rd party medical group QTC Medical Services, Inc. to make 2 separate appointments for Internal Medicine and a hearing test in August. At this point they are in the process of evaluating and assessing the claims that I put on the form to determine the percentage of disability I qualify for. So, for me it's roughly about 6 months and still counting...

What bugs me is it is a slam dunk they tested me I have sciatic nerve issues in a va hospital. My sleep apnea info was 100% complete it should take 10 minutes at the most but I think they are under so much pressure to finish claims they are half assing them

Vfw San Diego got me back on track. Walked in spoke with VA they had me fill out some forms and I got copies, but before I left I went to va office to see if it was correct. Was told it was correct it will work but a resubmitt will negate my back pay about $12-15,000. I ran back and asked for all my forms back and the VFW submitted the correct action.
I would hate to try this BS on my own or listening to the people that work for VA

First off just kidding but I now see why they have metal detectors and armed guard at the front. Be careful my friends one wrong form could cost you thousands of dollars

I just got my claim back for Tinnitus and they gave me a 10% rating but my old overall rating of 50% is still unchanged. Took like 4-5 months from doing it on ebenefits to getting my rating in the mail right now.
If I had a rating of 50% already and have a rating of 10% now for tinnitus which would equal total of 55%. Shouldn't it be rounded up to 60%?

Looks like the VFW did nothing. Today I went into a VA office at 32nd street base and they helped me refilled the claim. Explained exactly what happened, said va dropped the ball and dated it last February when I originally filed.

My medical stuff took ~7 months from start to medical separation to receiving compensation. Not sure if the injuries occurring down range had anything to do with the quickness of the overall process.

Got my claim two months after I got out....back in 09. Pre filed with the DAV. However, it took 2 years and 3 months to add....I say add, one dependent to my claim. That was in 2011. YMMV, for sure!!!

No news for a couple months, then I got mail from QTC Lockheed Martin out of nowhere. I thought "What does an aerospace company want with me?" and turns out it's a medical examination appointment for my claim. I'm glad that's happened.

I separated in 09 from the Navy in San Diego. Took about 6 months with the help of the DAV to get my percentage.
My VRT counselor says we should be filing for re-evaluation every few years to increase our percentage. She says if any meds you take for your service connected injuries cause side effects, you can file a claim for those. |

Status moved to Pending Decision Approval phase.
Does anyone know how long it usually is until I see something from the VA? I know these times vary, but I want to know what happened for you. |

I filed in Nov 2013 and on ebenefits today it said estimated time is between 8/2014- 3/2015 for completion. Wow sleep apnea got you 50% todd2968. If you don't mind me asking, did you have bad sleep apnea or mild? I am in the process for testing on that too.

It was pretty severe they said in 2 hours I had over 126 episode of hypopnea and apopnea or some such thing. They said some even lasted over 2 minutes, which to me doesn't figure. I was just lying there when they walked in and told them I just couldn't fall asleep. They said I was asleep but every time in fall asleep I stop breathing and wake my self up.
I was diagnosed while still on active duty so I had no problem proving service connected. If anyone else Diagnoses in service only submit you diagnosis and the bill/receipt for the cpap anything else will confuse them You can also send in a form to power co SDGE to get discount on power for medical bill

I just started working with DAV to get my claims done. I went down there and he gave me a pretty good list of stuff to take care of. To make it easy, I submitted a NOD regarding some stuff they denied; the VA utilized medical records from 1972-1976.. I was like -12 years old at the time. So I sent a letter saying it might have helped to look at the right records lol. Also looking into vocational rehab at this time to possibly pick up education and stuff for my future employment.
If you are 10% disabled or greater, I would suggest looking into VOC rehab. The programs are there for you; you earned it - use it.

Does anyone here know where I can go file veteran disability in-person?
I served little over 19 months in Iraq (back in 2004) and never bothered to visit veteran's hospital. I hurt both of my feet when I was climbing up the stairs and stupid stairs went crap on me and fell down pretty hard.

My claim suddenly got completed today and that I would get a letter of notice / decision.
They couldn't find my service treatment records, nor could I get a hold of them myself after I called the community hospital I was seen at. My QTC appointment physicians said I should get a high rating though? So I'm I'm going to go on a whim and say they denied it. Either that, or their processing times have gotten much faster and they finally got their **** together. Will update when I get the decision letter. |

I just began my calim with VA two days ago and wow...
I was at VA hospital for little over 8 hours for two days so fain a row. My case manager and doctor was little surprise I waited this long (she even cried for me). They made me describe my injuries and I told them everything. I just hope I get all the help I need from them. They told me it is going to be long road. 19 months in Iraq as a machine gunner (I was the only machine gunner left in my team by end of my deployment) took lot out of me.
