Default 7.62x39 AR with NFA Polymer GENII complete lower

Just put together my 7.62x39 upper with a NFA Gen II composite complete lower. This build is meant to debunk all the 7.62x39 myths of mags not feeding the functionality of a composite lower and all that. I will be posting range reports this weekend when i get out to the range. So far I have tested magpul 20 round pmags with no change with 7.62x39 rounds and all rounds fed flawlesly I used snap caps but i will test again with wolf military ammo. it seems that the standard pmags work pretty well with the upper. Here is a pic of my build.

What myths?

I have seen polymer lowers crack personally, doesn't mean they will all crack.

Interesting. Are you blocking the Pmags to 10 rounds of 5.56 (so it only holds 8 or 9 rounds of 7.62x39)?

Yup I have the pmag round limiter installed. I bought 6.8 followers thinking they were for the pmag since magpul built them but its for the standard steel mags. So I'm gonna pick one of those up an test out the reliability of the 6.8 follower with the standard steel mag

Very cool I will have to try that.

I use AR stoner 7.62x39 10 rounders.Mine is a Bushmaster carbine 7.62x39. The AR stoner mags are about 80% reliable Not good enough for me. So its just a target plinker gun I would not use it if my life depended on it. but I love shooting it even more then my 5.56. I just have to have it 100% reliable.

Please keep updates on how ths 5.56 pmags work at the range.

Enjoy the new toy!

New update. I loaded up my pmag with the 10 round limiter and it can reliably feed 5 rounds. After that it jams up. I guess the wolf rounds arnt as smooth as the snap caps. But I will b picking up another mag and will change out the flower an see if it works.

I'm using older C-Prods x39 10-round mags with no issue.

I have a polymer lower as well. I have ran over 5k rounds through it. Have not had a single jam, Crack, Nothing yet. I did however replace the plastic internals with a metal parts kit.

Just came back from the range this past weekend and the polymer lower shot flawlessly no failure to fires and all casings ejected beautifully. I am extremely happy with the polymer lowers and having built full metal ar's this polymer lower from NFA is amazing. IF you all want a lower that shoots extremely well with wolf ammo give the NFA gen 2 polymer lowers a try. my custom upper is amazing as well. check out pinoy916 hes a fellow calguns member located in the sacramento area and is a great guy. He makes a quality product and can build almost any caliber upper for you with basically whatever you want.

the only problem i had were the magazines. i had a c products 10 rounder and swapped out the follower with a 6.8 and that magazine is a piece of crap had multiple failure to feed and had multiple jams. the magpul 20 round pmag with 10 round limiter shoots really well if you only load 5-6 rounds i only had 1 ftf but other than that the 20 round magpul pmags work really well with a 7.62x39 round with no mods.

Default Accuracy

JKL33,

What kind of accuracy do you get with that rifle? I mean everyone says you only get "minute of man" with the AK platform rifles, but I am wondering how much of that is due to the rifle, and how much is due to the round itself. Can you (or anyone else who owns an AR in 7.62x39) enlighten me on that?

Thanks.

It's mostly the rifles, not the cartridge.

There are bench cartridges inspired by 7.62x39. See .220 Russian and 6mm PPC.

Its based on rifle. I had an ak and I wasnt able to hit a 10 in circle at 100 yards. With my AR I am able to punch holes at a 10 in target with ease. You wont be getting super close groupings but you will be getting good sized groupings. I am not a technical shooter that knows MOA and all that i just shoot adjust and shoot again to see where Im hitting. this thing is a blast to shoot way better than the .223.
