Call your local news. Tell them you have photos of two burglars that are now armed and dangerous and have body armor.

I'm pretty sure they'll be happy to show your photos for a few seconds on the nightly news tonight.

Damn that sucks!! At least you had the cameras so if they find the thieves they can ID them. I bet the guy in the green shirt is really going to be easy to prove, since you caught his tattoo on his right arm.

I'm hoping this has a happy ending. I'm not too far from Pittsburg and there are a lot of section 8 rentals out this way... lots of able bodied males standing around during the day smoking blunts and looking for something to do.

On the bright side - you have actual pictures of who did it. Could you share a bit more about your camera set-up? Compared to not having pics, you're way ahead of the game. Someone in your area knows these guys; I'm not quite sure how to catch them from this. But you'd think facial recognition software cross-referenced against DMV and other records would be a start.

Good luck getting your guns back, and getting these guys busted.

Well, it looks like there were three of them, you got good face shots of two perps. I doubt they don't already have criminal records so they should be easy to identify if the police take the time to work the case. Sending the pictures to the news station might get their pictures over the airwaves so other homeowners and neighbors know what to look for but don't expect their freinds to roll on them.

Agreed. Except there's always the potential backlash against gun owners that may come of this. I might not mention the body armor part. The news thing isn't a bad idea since you do have the photos. Just say a firearm was stolen and here are the photos...

And sorry to hear about it. My apartment in Berkeley was broken into back in late 2006 and we lost a couple of laptops, a TV, etc. The girlfriend at the time -- now wife -- and I felt really violated and it was pretty horrible.

They did not get any firearms because I had a safe that was bolted to the wall studs in a location where it was basically impossible to get leverage onto it. Now, plenty of guns later, I have a large safe properly bolted to the concrete floor in the back corner of the garage, again up against the wall so you cannot get leverage to pry at the door.

I hate to come down on you considering , but you've just armed criminals and have provided them with serious body armor due to using a cheap gun vault and [apparently] not securing it either. That's horrible. I know how it feels to have something nice stolen, but that's such a minor issue here.

Gun "vaults" are just lockboxes to keep kids out and can be broken into with a screwdriver in like 30 seconds... that's IF you bother to screw them to the wall or something; otherwise any thief will just make off with the safe and get into it later. Even a 500 lb safe like mine gets taken first to be broken into later, if that's an option, or the backup plan is pushing it over so you can use your bodyweight to pry on the door with tools. Therefore it MUST be bolted down properly.

Invest in a real safe. You don't want to arm criminals. It may well cost you as much as the new gun you've been eyeballing, but it should be purchased and, really, it should be purchased first. It's like all of the people who spend thousands of dollars massively increasing the HP output of their cars, but leave upgrading brakes and suspension to actually be able to control that power to last, if it ever gets done. It's not the most responsible thing ever.

...and +1 on telling the neighbor that he/she is a waste of human life...

Being robbed would be bad enough (been there done that). Watching them on camera taking my stuff would royally piss me off.

Speaking of cameras... They looked RIGHT at the cameras and STILL kept going.

That sucks man. I feel your pain, I got hit about 6 months ago, lost a S&W1911 with some heirloom ivory grips. At least you got pictures of the perps. I hope that helps you recover your gear. In the mean time, I agree with everyone who promotes distributing those photos as widely as possible.

Post their pics on every light post in your area with the PD number to call. Shine some light on these cockroaches and see if one of the gets ID'ed.

Or GSD / Malinois. They will all scare the crap out of a perp and have awesome guarding and protective instincts...and should be great with kids assuming they've been raised properly.

We live in a bad neighborhood and when we walk the Mal and Husky day or night, the bangers who walk around move to the other side of the street.

Used a crowbar and pried open a small living room window, the lock broke. 1 climbs in unlocks sliding door to let 3 more in.

Get a couple of Dobermans or Rottweillers and you'll never have unwanted visitors. Ask me how I know.

Good companions and they work for you 24/7.

I'm sorry to hear of this unfortunate incident, but hopefully with the images and records you have they'll quickly be recovered, or at the very least replaced with the help of insurance.

Kind of off topic, but can you tell us a little more about the cameras? It looks like you were able to get some good details and facial recognition off of an in home CCTV which is not typical. I had some in my place for a while, but I'm the end didn't think that we're that great and opted to sell them.

Ick, that sucks. Hopefully the pics help if they are able to catch these guys. I'd also hope the local PD would be more inclined to work this case given that firearms and body armor are involved. In some communities, property crimes are being all but ignored "due to other priorities" or "for lack of resources" -- it's getting a little bit sad and very frustrating.

Despite it all, I presume your insurance will be able to cover the losses, not that it helps with the overall feeling of violation when people grab your stuff.

Best wishes.

PS is that douche in the red actually wearing rubber gloves?

I hope they get debilitating injury from shooting themselves (or each other) with your guns from negligent discharge.

Typically I don't wish harm or ill will on people - but in when it comes to theft (and invading ones home) I do.

Sorry for your situation OP, hope you get your guns back!

My bed side safe is that gunvault multivault, its for quick access for me for home defense.
unfortunately it wasnt bolted down.

My other safe is a Cannon costco ex20 or something. its probably 650+ lbs with the guns inside. they tried to pry it with a crowbar and only made a few small dents.

yes the DB is wearing ripped gloves.
I also see 1 guy who takes my garden gloves and put them on.
Another one is seen putting on blue gloves inside my home.
Its very violating having them go through your clothes and furniture.

I am hoping they get caught because they were stupid to stick their face in the camera and leave the DVR here.

Thanks for sharing this story. It raised my awareness a couple more notches. I need to get a bigger safe and a bigger dog. I really hope you get your guns back and the perps get what they deserve...accidentally shooting themselves in their genitals would be a good start.
