Just picked up this gem. I'm thinking about getting it re-blued. Mechanically good but finish needs tlc. What are your thoughts? Is there much value to keeping it the way it is?

Don't re blue it. Just keep what you have. Unless you have it professionally restored, you are not doing it a favor. Even then, the price is massive to do right.

I'd keep it as is. That Brazilian contract revolver has a nice worn look that can't be replicated. Plus re-bluing would diminish what's left of the Brazilian crest as well as it's value.

I respectfully disagree. The M1937s don't have the same value as a 1917 and this one is awfully rough, shooter grade. If it is reblued it is still a shooter grade but not as ugly. If the bore and chambers are bright and unpitted and the lockup reasonably tight it might be worth the funds to give it a face lift.

I bought this one reblued already by someone else, fitted repro grips and added back the lanyard loop and have a pretty nice shooter that looks respectable on the range or in my holster.
