Default shotguns with rounds in a side saddle

I read through the wiki and could not find an answer. What does everyone think about transporting an unloaded shotgun in a car with shells in the side saddle? Is this legal? Anyone have experience with this? I myself have been stopped with a shotgun and shells together with no issues before. Just wondering about the attached side saddle with shells in them.

Side saddle is considered unloaded.

Pardon? Which part of the wiki did you read?

People v. Clark(1996) 45 Cal.App.4th 1147 , 53 Cal.Rptr.2d 99 specifically limited 12031(g) by holding that in order to be “loaded” a firearm must have ammunition “placed into a position from which it can be fired”. The case rested on the fact that a shotgun is not loaded when shotgun shells were attached to a shotgun inside a buttstock shell carrier.

Thanks for the replies guy.
Librarian, I did read that part also. I suck at interpreting laws and what not. It didnt say a loaded side saddle so I thought I'd get your guy's take. Thanks again.
