Default 14.5" barrel

Im thinking about getting a 14.5" barrel with a spikes dynacomp 1.5 to replace the 16" barrel i currently have on my ar. I know its not that much shorter, it's just personal preference. Does anyone know of any decent brands at as decent price? im looking at a midlength or a carbine length gas system.
Thanks.

If you're happy with the quality of your 16" barrel, why not send it to Adco to have them chop it down to 14.5" and install the muzzle device for you?

I might use my 16" for another build, or use the 14.5 for another build. But how much would it be to have adco do that?

I went with Daniel defense for my barrel of choice. I wanted carbine length and they were one of the only ones to have them readily available. They make a mid to. Just depends on your price range tho. Aim surplus has a couple options. So does Rainer arms.

I can shorten and thread your existingnbarrel and permanent attach something on it way cheaper than you can buy a new barrel for...

OP, take AR15barrels offer on that. No reason to buy a new barrel. You would be suprised how cheap it is to have it cut and pinnned with Ar15barrels. Great work as well.

Randall, how much would that run me? I already have a spikes dynacomp 1.5 to put on it.

I just made the same switch. I've been running a 16" for the past two years and finally switched to a 14.5". I went with a complete BCM upper and couldn't be happier. They make a nice upper. It's surprising how much better the rifle feels to me now. Much easier to wield and swing around IMO. The balance feels much better as well.

I shot 80 rounds through it the other day for the first time. It shot flawless and accurately.

So, yes, do it. You'll appreciate the difference. The BCM isn't cheap though, but not overly expensive either.

Randall did my 14.5 inch barrel and it turned out great. I am lucky to live close to Randall's shop. Sometimes I can call him and get the work done the same day.

Cant speak highly enough about Daniel Defense. If you're gonna get another barrel for another project anyways, buy DD. I bought a middy 14.5 and also put a 1.5 Dynacomp on it.....best thing since sliced bread. The 1-7" twist really likes the longer bullets though.

Here's the 55gr @ 100 yards:

Here's the 68gr Hornady's @ 100 yards:

Without that flyer, it would have been a 0.75 MOA group. As it is, it's a 1 MOA group. Not bad for a pencil profiled, chrome lined barrel with a 4x ACOG....

Another option is you can try Palmetto State. I think I got my barrel (14.7" M4 profile) for around $150 plus shipping and pinned a battlecomp. I was actually going to send my barrel to Randall but I was able to find someone local for the same price. I have been happy so far and eventhough its roughly the same length it just feels more manuverable?

Just another option.

I just checked PSA's website and they don't have the 14.7" M4 carbine barrel anymore. But they still have some options and sell the Daniel Defense aswell.

What price point are you looking at? Also AR15barrel's offer sounds good too.

$70 if you bring me just the barrel.
$110 if you bring a complete upper.
