.40 is a solution looking for a problem. The best thing that ever happened to .40S&W was being necked down to .357Sig

both are good. with guns chambered in .40 you tend to have a little more capacity. Both are powerful rounds though. In my opinion, its really all about what you shoot better with and what feels better too you.

I shoot a glock 35

Neither:

Whatever you shoot best with. I shoot .40 better than 9mm and .45. So .40 for me.

My opinion:
45>40
9mm>40

22LR has a better record. Easier to shoot, more capacity and cheaper, wait that's not what you asked.....

I mean if the .40 was developed for and is good enough for the FBI, it's good enough for the protection of my home and life. That and I feel I'm a tad more accurate with this than my 9.

The .40 is a compromise between the .45 and the NATO 9mm. I've shot and owned a number of both (9mm & .40), but sold them off. You'll have to take the .45 out of my cold dead hands!

.40 is better for shooting out of guns chambered in .40
.45 is better for shooting out of guns chambered in .45

that is the only definitely way that one is "better" than the other.
